Pattaya without Walking Street (video)
Pattaya is Walking Street and whoever says Walking Street says Pattaya. The two are inextricably linked. However, videos about Pattaya can be found on which not one time does Walking Street appear.
Now I must have stepped on a few sore toes of people who think that the seaside town has much more to offer than just a street full of neon signs and go-go bars.
These people will also be able to successfully present a list of attractions where you can go responsibly with the whole family. So these people are right. Were it not that an estimated 80% of tourists come for Walking Street. And: there is no room in it Thailand where sex tourism is as openly practiced as in Pattaya.
Perhaps the maker of the video below had the best intentions and wanted to show the other side of Pattaya. But it still comes across as a film about a visit to Amsterdam in which the Red Light District does not appear. Or from men who claim they buy Playboy because it contains such in-depth interviews.

@John, you're not stepping on my toes, because everyone can think what they want from Pattaya. The text accompanying this pretty nice video is tendentious. The film is about everyday life in Pattaya during the day and gives a nice picture, which contradicts the idea that Pattaya is not Thailand.
So it's daytime and why should Walking Street be in it. During the day, that street is an ordinary shopping street. That 80% of you may refer to Western tourists, but remember, that is only a small fraction of the total number of tourists that visit Pattaya. Perhaps as many as 80% of tourists come from Asian countries, which have no need for Walking Street, may not even know about it.
The same also applies to Amsterdam, the vast majority of tourists in Amsterdam do not visit the Red Light District, there are more than enough other options for entertainment.
The images actually depict Pattaya as a thoroughly Thai city on the coast, for those who have an eye for it. The maker of this video had an eye for it. Happy. The open sex industry encompasses a few blocks. That's it.
Moderator: incomprehensible sentence, so not posted.
What a wonderful impression of Pattaya. At least that way you don't have to
ashamed. Not that I'm ashamed of sex, but that should be private.
We are not Chinese or other sex-crazed people, so we would like to visit Pattaya
without Walking Street. Perhaps 80% of the tourists go there once out of curiosity, but that is also the last time….!
Everyone has their freedom, you can hear that, but hopefully your choice for Thailand (Pattaya) has
something to do with your personal character and integrity.

We in Chiang Mai also have a walking streat boys and girls. And probably many places in Thailand. Fortunately, they do not all sell the same “fruit”. And luckily we are not all the same.
Let's not bran 😀 ordinary or uncomplicated, all TOP! 😀
The piece could give the ignorant the impression that you have to go to Walking Street in Pattaya for sex tourism. Of course nothing could be further from the truth.
On Beach Road, in almost all side streets of Beach Road, and on Second Road and its side streets, there are also hundreds of places where you can 'score' in this respect; the whole range, from Go-Go bars to Beer Bars and everything else you can think of. Only generally less intrusive and noisy.
Personally, I think 1 or 2 evenings of Walking Street a week is more than enough.
Of course, the greatest concentration can be found there, but a family that carefully avoids Walking Street during a visit to Pattaya should not have the illusion that you will not be confronted with sex tourism.
Incidentally, a family does not have to be afraid of such a 'confrontation', because everyone is very welcome in the Beer Bars, it's just a lot of fun and if you don't tell the children, they probably don't have a clue of them ending up in the 'sex scene'.
For me (woman 59) this video is very recognizable. I have been to Pattaya 5x.
After the death of my father I accompanied my (Thai) mother, she had good acquaintances in Pattaya whom she wanted to visit annually, as long as she still could.
Yes Walking Street belongs to Pattaya as the red light district belongs to Amsterdam. So what?
And yes, my mom and I also took the tuk tuk to Walking Street regularly.
(the last time my mother was 83, a sprightly spirited lady, unfortunately passed away).
Why we went to Walking Street? About halfway there is a large fish restaurant.
As fish lovers we have eaten there regularly.
Then about an hour's walk back to our hotel (around 22:00 PM in the evening).
Very busy, and yes then we saw a few things! And what did my wise mother say?
“Shall we walk along the boulevard at the end of the street?
There is that girl with fresh fruit.” Back at the hotel, on the balcony, enjoying exotic fruit and a fine cognac. That too is Pattaya.

Yes, and that boulevard in the evening is a large “pool of destruction” with dozens of freelance
ladies and 3rd gender converted types.
Pretty unsafe there, the last few years, if you ask me.
But yes, also girls with fresh fruit 🙂
