Visit the lively provincial capital Phitsanulok, 377 kilometers north of Bangkok. The city has many historically interesting sights.
On Saturday evenings, one of the main streets is closed to traffic and all kinds of stalls are set up with local handicrafts and all kinds of food. In addition, there are performances of traditional and modern Thai dances.
Also visit the museum of a former soldier who is also a gifted sculptor. The museum has a large collection of household items to agricultural tools that give a good picture of the daily life of the people in the north of Thailand in recent decades. Opposite the museum, Ja Thawee has a gallery with Buddha images in all shapes and sizes.
It is also possible to travel from Bangkok to Phitsanulok by train, so you can easily visit Sukhothai by bus.
