Recently a posting was published on the Thailand blog about the Silverlake Vineyard. Nearby is another landmark known as Khao Chee Chan.

During the Vietnam War, a lot of building materials were needed for the construction of an American airbase at U-Tapao to bomb from Vietnam. The material was removed from this area for the construction of the U-Tapao airfield that still exists today. A bare halved mountain was left behind in this beautiful setting. The airport regained importance during the occupation of Suvarnabhumi International Airport in November 2008. Now it is still used by tourism and the Thai Navy.

In 1996 the 50e King Bhumibol Adulyadej's birthday celebrated with the enthronement. In honor of this, a creative idea was implemented. A Buddha image was carved on the bare mountain slope by means of laser technology. This was filled with gold leaf. Out of respect for Buddha, the nickname “Waha Wachira” was given, which means “The Great Wisdom”. Buddha is sitting here in a meditative pose. This Buddha image is the largest in the world with a height of no less than 130 meters and a width of 70 meters. This image can be seen from a great distance.

In the beautiful landscape are several pavilions and a number of water features filled with lotus flowers. In this serene environment there are opportunities to meditate or to enjoy this environment.
