Are you curious and adventurous? Then you should definitely visit the Kaeng Lawa Cave. Into this 500 meter long cave Kanchanaburi is located near the Kwai Noi River and surrounded by jungle and mountains. 

After you have passed the narrow entrance, it is time to discover the most beautiful secrets of the cave. Consider the formation of the beautiful stalagmites and stalactites that can be seen in the cave or marvel at the Buddhist images that can be found in the cave. Your visit will be even more exciting when you discover the Khun Kitti bat. With a wingspan of 10 centimeters and a weight of less than two grams, this is the smallest bat in the world. The bat is harmless and flies quickly if you get too close. What is special is that this bat can only be found in this area of ​​Thailand.

The cave can be reached in different ways. For example, a boat departs from the Pak Saeng Pier (45 minutes) or you can drive about 75 kilometers from the city of Kanchanaburi or 18 kilometers from Sai Yok Noi by car. After you cross the Ban Kaeng Raboet bridge it is about 50 meters uphill. There are also a number of nice resorts near the Lawa cave such as River Kwai Resotel and the Float House (luxury floating resorts). The resorts are an ideal starting point for sports enthusiasts who would like to go on a mountain bike (15 min) or on foot through the jungle to the cave.

The Kaeng Lawa cave is open every day from 9.00 a.m. to 16.00 p.m. and the entrance fee is around 200 Baht. Don't forget to bring a flashlight. A guide is also an option or you can embark on the exciting adventure yourself.
