Well, things are getting to me in Pattaya and the surrounding area. More and more open spaces are opening up at the large supermarkets, including Big C and Lotus. These are filled with stocks of products that were already there. Were there first 5 in a row, now 25 next to each other.

On the way to the supermarket (in Pattaya and by moped taxi) I see a long queue of people for food distribution at two or three places, a well-known phenomenon for several weeks. And at every row I see half a dozen white foreigners, neatly with shopping bags in their arms.

In Pattaya and Jomtien, free food and water are distributed at regular intervals to less fortunate Thais, who live without or at least too little income.

According to a recent United Nations report, there are more than 1900 edible insect species on Earth that can be fed into a normal diet for 80 percent of the planet's peoples. Two billion people regularly eat insects ranging from ants to tarantulas, raw, cooked or otherwise prepared.
