The environment ministry wants Thais and tourists to pay a wastewater levy and use the proceeds to finance the cleaning of rivers and canals, including the Saen Saep Canal in Bangkok.
Saen Saep canal in Bangkok needs to be cleaned up
The municipality of Bangkok wants the heavily polluted Saen Saep canal to become clean again within two years. The area also needs to be renovated to become a tourist attraction.
