I have been living in Isaan for 8 years with my wife. Married in 2022. We have been renting a house for 8 years for 8500 Baht per month excl. We want to buy land and start building, the intention is to purchase a lot of materials ourselves. Only what we come to lay our hands on.

Only 12 kilometers from the center of the city of Buriram, in the district of Huai Rat, lies the quiet village of Sanuan Nok. It has only 150 inhabitants, but is known for the opportunity to spend a weekend there and learn about sericulture (raising silkworms) and silk weaving.

In November 2009, my unforgettable journey began deep in the Isan region of Thailand, where, newly married to Lek, I was confronted with local traditions, an unexpected funeral ceremony and an overwhelming celebration. Phat mi Khorat (stir-fried rice noodle dish)
Phat Mi Khorat, is a popular dish in Nakhon Ratchasima, stir-fried noodles with a special sauce, delicious with Som Tam.
This spicy catfish salad comes from the Isaan and can also be found at the street stalls in Bangkok or Pattaya, for example. It is a relatively simple dish but certainly no less tasty. The catfish is first grilled or smoked. The fish is then mixed with red onions, toasted rice, galangal, lime juice, fish sauce, dried chillies and mint.
Nam Tok Moo (Grilled Pork with Dressing) with recipe
This popular Isan dish consists of grilled pork sliced and served with rice, onions and chillies. The taste is refined with a special dressing. Nam Tok Moo (the literal translation is: waterfall pork) is also found in Laotian cuisine.
