Now that the covid epidemic is over, we want to go out. But we have 2 dogs and they want to come with us. That is why we are looking for a house with a closed fence near the sea. For example, on the strip from Trat to the border with Cambodia. That can be reached in a day from Ubon.

No, I'm not a dog person, but if you have to get a pet, I'd rather have a cat. Those are much easier. But yes, how is that? You live more spaciously and with a large garden and your wife wants a dog. “No, I don't want a dog and that's it!”

In my previous contribution about “Dogs in Thailand” you could read that we as dog owners were faced with a dilemma. Do you have 100.000 baht to save a hairy 3-year-old child you've lived with for almost as long from possible death?

Like many other countries in this world, the dog is indispensable in Thai society. In the link at the bottom of the article there is a description of why people and dogs get along so well and for Asia we would have to go back in time about 12.500 years ago.

In July this year, my husband and I will be moving to Pathum Thani for work. We have two dogs that we would like to bring with us. We know that we cannot stay in an ASQ hotel with the dogs. Is there the possibility to hand over the dogs to an employee of a dog boarding house upon arrival in Bangkok so that we can collect them from ourselves after the mandatory quarantine?

Unfortunately, two months ago we had to return to Belgium due to Covid-19. Since my 2 dogs were not yet fully in order with the necessary titre test, we were forced to house them in an animal b&b in Bangkok.

We only missed Linla towards the end of the afternoon. Linla is the sister of Mimi, two 'thoroughbred Thai' dogs and now 5 years old. They came to live with us when Mona, labrador, was still alive with Sam Lie, another thoroughbred (meaning a cocktail of 'anything and everything') Thai dog who is just under a year older than Linla and Mimi. In the course of 2013, Mona passed away.

I am in the process of bringing my 2 dogs from Thailand to Belgium. A specialized company would take care of this by means of cargo because we cannot stay in Thailand during the entire procedure. I'm trying to get info through the website of the embassy. It says that you must provide a prior authorization for importation in writing. What exactly does this mean?

I am going to Thailand for a long time at the end of this year. I want to take my 2 Malinois with me, and they will stay there, because we also have a house there. Can you tell me what I need to arrange for that time? And which airline is the best? And do my dogs still have to be quarantined?

Why is the dog meat trade still so popular in South East Asia and Thailand in particular? I worked for a month at Soi Dog 2 weeks ago. An incredibly beautiful organization that helps stray dogs and cats. The entire organization runs on the basis of donations from people. The work these people do is as beautiful and as much needed as in countries such as Thailand. I don't understand why these people (and especially the government) don't see that this is really a problem?
