Drought in Thailand: Farmers pump water despite ban
Thailand is suffering from an unprecedented drought. In order not to endanger the drinking water supply, various measures have been announced by the government. These mainly affect farmers, who are not allowed to pump up water to water their crops.

There is no rain in Thailand. This is becoming disastrous for agriculture, energy supply, water management and infrastructure.
Agricultural organizations have asked the government to do more for farmers who have been hit by the persistent drought in 31 provinces in Thailand.
Although the states in Bangkok regularly flood, there is a dire situation in the north due to water shortage. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha yesterday urged farmers to cancel or postpone their second rice harvest in order to save water.
