Abortion now legal in Thailand

As of the end of October, women in Thailand in their 12th to 20th week of pregnancy can legally have an abortion at any of the 110 hospitals and clinics offering the services across the country, subject to prior consultation with experts.

Many Thais are sinking into deep and hopeless poverty, now that public life has come to a standstill due to the Covid-19 crisis. A Thai woman, Koi (39), with two children aged 10 and 14, says she has decided to terminate her pregnancy because the family's income has been greatly reduced and they are falling deeper into debt.

I have a problem, my girlfriend is pregnant. She was first on the injection but then she had too many problems with the side effects.
She then switched to the regular pill, in consultation with a doctor in Bangkok Hospital. Yet she got pregnant. Six weeks now, the doctor says. After consultation and because of the problems she has with the family, it was decided for an abortion. In Bangkok Hospital they don't want to do that.

Thai hospitals would do well to replace the Dilation and Curettage method in an abortion with the Manual Vacuum Aspiration method, in accordance with a recommendation from the World Health Organization WHO. That method is much safer and more efficient.
