The East side of Pattaya: the Darkside

Out of nostalgia, the Inquisitor wrote a very nice story about the east side of Pattaya. Many things are changing at a very fast pace. One of the things that concerns me is, for example, where the beautiful statues on Pattaya Beach have gone. First from Pattaya Nua through a beautiful "entrance gate" to the Pattaya Beach and then enjoy the artistic images along the boulevard.

There is a huge clear-cutting taking place in Pattaya East. Many coconut trees are knocked down and the crop underneath disappears due to large machines. Trucks fill the site with huge amounts of sand. It is not known whether a number of resorts will be added, or perhaps another theme park. What was clear was that three “Seven Elevens” were built at an extremely high pace within 6 weeks and are already operational. It is said that 3.000 “Seven Elevens” will be added in Thailand. All on a franchise basis.

In Pattaya East, a number of roads are being thoroughly addressed and provided with new sewers. The connecting road between Soi 89 and Nern Plawaan Road is still being worked on, but the part that has been completed has a large street lighting as if people are already in the Christmas mood. The lighting even runs down the pole. In that respect, the use-by date of the name “Darkside” has been reached.
