Dolphin Show in Pattaya

Pattaya has another attraction richer. Apparently this seaside town has a thing for dolphins.

Long ago they swam here in the sea. I've seen them swim past. A few years ago, some specimens floundered in the sea-connected ponds of the Temple of the Truth in Naklua, but they have since disappeared. Of course we have the Dolphin Roundabout in Naklua and, by coincidence, the meeting place of our association has been the Dolphin Appartments restaurant for many years.

Pattaya Dolphin World and Resort

Now we have Pattaya Dolphin World and Resort with a professional dolphin show. Of course, you can argue about whether these animals should be kept in captivity. I'm practical about that. Bullfighting should be banned, as well as cockfighting. Cruel public entertainment at the expense of the animals. I'm tolerant of everything else. When the animals are not suffering, they are allowed to entertain us and themselves. I see no difference between dolphins in a large tank and goldfish in a cramped bowl.

Now to the point. This show is hard to find. It is located halfway between Pattaya Sattahip. Just after the Ambassador Hotel on Sukhumvit Road you will see a Dolphin show sign 6 km. One kilometer further there is a turn inland, then another five kilometers. The entrance fees are problematic: 500 Baht for foreigners, 200 Baht for Thais, 100 Baht for children. It is therefore important to bring a Thai driver's license. There are five performances a day: 09.00:11.00 am, 13.00:15.00 am, 17.00:XNUMX pm, XNUMX:XNUMX pm and XNUMX:XNUMX pm. The performance takes place in an amphitheatre, built around a large basin. There are two stages, one on the other side of the side where the audience sits and one on the audience side. The decor consists of immense photographs of the beaches from Pattaya.

Show

I actually expected to be confronted with buses full of Russians, but I mainly met a Thai audience. The show starts right on time and shows that dolphins are an exceptionally playful species of mammal. They jump through hoops and over tensioned ropes, dance, play with balls and much more, if only they get a small reward in the form of a fish. There are currently four specimens stealing the show, each with its own owner. Two dolphins have a pointed nose, the other two a blunt front. Maybe this is the difference between a bottlenose dolphin and a pilot whale, but I'm no expert. As a photographer you have to react extremely alert, because the animals are fast and always unexpected.

After the show, there's plenty to do on site for kids, including horseback riding, rock climbing, go carting and whatnot. Is all this worth the money? If it is limited to 200 Baht I would say yes, but 500 Baht is a bit much.

As a matter of principle I don't go to places where they charge higher prices for foreigners.
Will I pay 500 baht with my poor state pension, while types like Taksin and associates can enter for 200 baht and probably also park their Mercedes for free.
Incidentally, I am not opposed to Thais, who do not have enough money, a
    discount card.

They have that discount card for shops, especially in the Isaan I let my family buy large expenses.

      Dear Dick Koger.
I think it would be a good idea to give you this tip, watch this documentary carefully before comparing the Dolphin with a goldfish.

After seeing this document you will have a completely different opinion about the life of a dolphin.
The criminal trade in these fantastic animals for the dolphinariums worldwide.
These extremely smart and highly sensitive animals are caught and sold for a measly $150,000 and all babies left in a bay are horribly slaughtered.
This very shocking documentary has caused quite a stir and fortunately has therefore achieved its goal.
However, because of this kind of thoughtlessly placed articles, I feel compelled to inform you of this, so that you will publicly come back to your statements after seeing the documentary.

So also not to the zoo, the elephant show, watching monkeys and no sea aquarium
But to Pattaya to the girls, that's also crooked.
And that may cost a bit.
I am not holy but I am against everything mentioned above.
