The annual 'National Games' will be held between 9 and 19 December Thailand held. This time it's Chiangmai's turn. The sporting event is organized for the 41st time.

The disabled Thai athletes will hold their competition from 15 to 19 December and will do so for the 31st time.

All games will be held at the “700 Year Anniversary” complex at Mae-Rim, built more than 15 years ago for the SEA (South East Asian Games) games.

Lanna culture

The 'National Games' are organized by the Ministry of Sports under the leadership of former Prime Minister and adviser Banharn. His son is the current Minister of Sports & Culture.

The opening ceremony with 5000 students who will cover 7 different topics of 'Lanna' culture will be attended by the government led by PM Yingluck Shinawatra.

The mascots have been introduced this week, elephants that listen to the name: Muan OK & Muan Jai.

Sporting events

Sometimes I wonder why Thailand never gets involved as an organizing country in major sporting events, such as the Olympic Games and World Cup football, among other things. With a few exceptions.

As a loyal fan of the local Chiangmai FC, I follow quite a lot of away games and sometimes I come to beautiful sports complexes, which can only be dreamed of in Europe! But a brush of paint and other maintenance has been hard to find for years. That must also be a reason that sport-minded Thailand still cannot make much of an impression.

    Just a small correction.
Chiangmai Games such as “The national games” are called this year will take place from December 9 to 19, 2012 for the able-bodied athletes and from January 15 to 19, 2013 for the disabled athletes.
Both festivities have an opening and closing ceremony.

    een vraagje
Does anyone know where and how I can order tickets.

    Greetings
    Eddy
