Wat (temple) Muang houses the largest seated Buddha image in Thailand at 84 meters high, 92 meters including the pedestal.

Surrounded by rice fields, the huge statue known as “Big Buddha of Ang Thong” dominates the area. The statue, made of cement and painted in golden color, was completed in 2008. The ordination hall of the temple surrounded by giant lotus petals enshrines a highly revered silver statue of Buddha in the Mara position.

Also on the temple grounds is a highly graphic diorama of Buddhist hell, where life-size figures of sinners are seen receiving punishments such as liars having their tongues ripped out, thieves being cut in half, and people being tortured by demons.
