Tomorrow, Sunday 13 January 2013, will be a memorable day for lovers of modern shopping – or should I say shopping – because the Siam Center in Bangkok will then be officially opened to the public.

According to an article in The Nation, shopping will never be what it used to be: After a five-month shutdown for major renovations, Siam Center reopens with an invigorating blend of art, technology, fashion and design in an interactive approach between shoppers and retailers.

More than 1,8 billion Baht has been spent on it mall into what is called an "Ideappolis," a term coined by Mr. Chadatip Chutrakul, the big boss of Siam Piwat, the company that owns the center. More than 70 million Baht has been spent on interactive technology alone, with more than 500 LED screens installed on ceilings, walls, pillars and even in the toilets.

“To celebrate our 40th anniversary, we spent 18 months re-branding the Siam Center into a new concept that engages and engages consumers in an ever-changing location with specialty stores and exclusive products. , displayed on interactive video walls,” Chadatip revealed during a preview for the press and VIPs.

So tomorrow is the big day for the festive opening, for which no expense has been spared. Many Thai, American and Korean television and movie stars will be present. If you have not been invited to do so, you can also spend your money from Monday and enjoy a preview today via the video below.

Hi, do you have a separate calendar in Thailand?

It's really Sunday January 13, 2013 for me!

    Editorial: Thank you. Now corrected.

May be very negative but not really shocking. Did I miss the acclaimed 500 interactive screens on the walls, ceilings and toilet? and how should I introduce myself interactively on the toilet?
Furthermore, the layout/design resembles many other department stores such as Zentral in Udon, for example (of course smaller).

Terminal 21 (!) and Siam Paragon impressed me a lot more. The background (foreground?) music at the vdo is not really inviting either. But it's only a vdo so I have to check out the new Siam Center myself soon.
Who has been there in the meantime?
