My unfortunately deceased Dutch wife had three hobbies in which she could indulge herself in a relaxed way: swimming, ballroom dancing and ceramics. I will not talk about the first two hobbies, but about her unforgettable passion as a ceramist.

Once "infected" by a friend, she joined a ceramics course, so working with clay. In contrast to pottery, where a turntable is used, with ceramics everything is done with your own hands. My wife thought it was an excellent way to get away from her busy life as a high school teacher. The hobby got to her.

Everyone starts in ceramic art with making a simple ashtray, but over the years my wife has made numerous ceramic objects that are widely admired. She has used it successfully at art markets, including in Bergen NH, and of course our house was also full of all kinds of artistic objects. To get an idea of what my wife made, take a look at the website of ceramist Tine www.klei-enzo.nl/index-2-1.html

I took quite a few of them with me when I moved to Thailand and every day I still enjoy the beautiful vases, flower pots, female figures and abstract objects that are in our living room.

Ceramics course in Srinakarin (Bangkok)

I come to this fond memory from an article in the Bangkok Post describing a visit to a small pottery workshop in Srinikarn. The artist Supkon “Joi” Huntrakul, in addition to working on his own creations, gives a pottery course to 2 to max. 4 people.

I can recommend it to anyone who wants to escape the daily worries. The satisfaction of a work of art that comes out of the oven glazed is unparalleled. Enjoy and relax in ceramics, a wonderful hobby! Read the whole story, location and prices at: www.bangkokpost.com
