Thai Tuk Tuk now also for tourists in Belgium

In Middelkerke (Belgium) tourists can imagine themselves in Thailand thanks to a ride with the Tuk Tuk.

The Tuk Tuk will be used for a city tour. An initiative of Walter Hubrouck, who imported this icon from Thailand. It took a year to get it to Belgium. Walter: “All vehicles must comply with European regulations and that was not so easy. The Tuk Tuk was dismantled and brought to the Netherlands with a container and reassembled there. It now meets all European safety standards.”

It is the one and only Tuk Tuk in Belgium. “We have a permit to make city tours with it. We start at the casino in Middelkerke and drive for half an hour along the seawall and the water tower to arrive back at the casino. We run from 1 May to the end of September every day from 10 a.m. to 20 p.m..”

Walter and his wife Rita alternate behind the wheel of the new ride. A ride costs 7 euros per person.

  1. Good heavens Roger says up

About 8 years ago I knew a garage owner who lived in Ghent and had imported a tuk-tuk, but was not given a permit to use it on public roads (I can't remember his name). Could it be that it is the same tuk-tuk as the one that is now driving around in Middelkerke?

To Roger. No, this tuk tuk was delivered by Globel tuk tuk in the Netherlands. These tuk tuks are made here in Thailand according to EU guidelines on behalf of Global Tuk Tuk. The Tuk tuks are also checked during production to ensure that everything complies with EU standards. Various parts are also supplied with the well-known EEC quality mark. These Tuk Tuks receive a license plate throughout Europe so that you can drive on public roads.

No, Walter, it's not the only one in Belgium. We had to wait 2 years for our tuk tuk and finally got it. We already have our tuktuk from the end of March. Hopefully you will have more luck than us because with ours there is nothing but misery and comes from the same supplier. Hopefully everything will be resolved soon but the way it is now it doesn't look like it.
