There has been a commotion in Thailand over a teacher who beats students in class because they wear warm clothing. The teacher goes berserk and yells at the students that they look like Hill Tribe kids.

A student posted the video of the incident on social media, which was widely viewed. The teacher can be seen hitting her classmates on the head because he doesn't want them to look like children of a hill tribe.

“This happened at a reputable school in Pathum Thani province,” the student wrote. The teacher didn't want the students to wear warm clothes when they are lined up to sing the national anthem in the morning because they would look like hilltribe kids.
“Nothing will happen to the teacher. At most, the school principal will have a short conversation with him and that will settle the matter. We, students, can do little.”

The video shows several female students in a classroom standing at the blackboard. The teacher yelled at them, called their names and hit them hard on the head.

On social media, the teacher has been widely criticized for using “excessive force” against the students, accusing him of discriminating against hill tribes.

It is often noticed that Thailand is lagging behind in some areas. In this context, see the handling of the administration at, for example, the immigration police, where file formation is a welcome activity. The copy machine glowing red hot, etc. I still remember the Netherlands in the late 50s and early 60s. My Dutch teacher at the time was also able to demonstrate some of these kinds of practices. During that period, students were also hit on the hands with a straw in front of all classmates on the teacher's desk. I and other classmates also had to stand for a long time with their nose in the corner of the classroom wearing dog ears.

Abuse is of all times and is really no longer acceptable. It's a good thing I wasn't in the classroom, because I did wash his ears, what a bummer. I assume he didn't get this in his training.
I may hope that he will be punished for this, but it can also be interpreted as educational blows on the head and then the school in question goes back to the order of the day. The world is full of strange birds who think they can make and do anything. Wait to see if we hear anything more about this.

You can also punish the children in a different way, with something where they too
    learn something more.
It's a good thing I don't see something like that because then the blows come on someone else's head.
Which of course is not a solution either.
Sending home for a month without pay seems better to me.

This teacher is totally unqualified for his subject. If he had treated and discriminated against my child like that, he wouldn't have gotten rid of me yet. He has to keep his hands off the students. But yes, if you see what is on TV here, it is no wonder. Violence and especially the beating of women is shown as normal in films/series every day.

Apparently this “teacher” is also verbally handicapped. He slaps, because he apparently cannot present his “vision” to the students in a normal conversation. He hopes that one day a “Hilltribe delegation” will not visit him. Or maybe it's a good idea??

Give that bastard a good kick in my name.......? you can decide for yourself how to fill it in.
Shame that this is still happening in 2016!
In the Netherlands he can immediately pack his bags.

Hitting the kids gets all the attention, and rightly so. But the way in which he portrays the hill tribes as backward and barbaric is apparently simply accepted. Thailand is often very racist behind that beautiful smile. It is a pity that such a stain on a very beautiful and fine country.

During my trips through Thailand in recent years I have seen some fights every now and then, both between Thai and Thai with foreigners, and it is very noticeable that the Thai have a preference for hitting / kicking in the head. Even if the opponent is lying on the ground, unconscious or not, one continues to kick the head.

On the internet, videos of these kinds of fights can be seen in various social media, as well as similar videos as in this article.

Sometimes it's down to the beasts in this country.

What is also used as a punishment, for a disobedient student, is that he has to stand in the burning sun under the flagpole for 2 hours. When I said something about that I was told that as a Farang I didn't understand anything about the Thai discipline system. That's how it was with the comments. From my own family and school going children. My son (then small) took Taek-Wondo lessons years ago and after each session all the students had to walk past the teacher in line and all got a hard whack with a bamboo slat on their ass. He had a few red welts on his butt and I didn't let him go right then. I know many more examples, such as a Father who explained to me how to hit your children with a bar without showing anything. Beating children at the parents is part of the upbringing here in Thailand. Not good to talk.
