Home » Remarkable » American tourist attacks women in Thai bar after overcharging (video)
A remarkable video of an incident in Thailand involving an American tourist. After a few too many drinks, he lost control of his emotions in a local bar. The problem started when he was furious about the 26 euro drinks bill which he thought was ridiculously high and he became aggressive towards the bar staff.
This incident does not highlight the personal consequences of irresponsible alcohol consumption and how quickly situations can escalate when respect and self-control are lacking. It underlines the need for tourists to be aware of their behavior and the impact it can have on others, and reminds us that holidays are not a license for drinking, aggression and recklessness.

Scandalous!!!
Deport Thailand and ban entry to Thailand forever!
I hope this man gets to spend a long holiday in a Thai prison with a strict regime. What a rude and completely idiotic display, he is completely lost.
The bill was €26, which is what you get for 3 glasses of wine in the US!!
To go on such a rampage, later that evening he dragged the woman off a moped.
Probably under the influence more than alcohol.
Compensate the woman, give her a prison sentence and then deport her, never allow her to enter Thailand again.
It is because of such idiots that the locals start to dislike tourists.
Jozef
In Soi Cowboy I have experienced 4 times that they let me pay too high a bill.
But you are powerless. You have no choice but to pay or be aggressive and you lose that. An amicable settlement is not one of the Thai options.
But I can understand why a customer goes crazy when he is treated so rudely, but it is not wise.
And who knows, it might not be his first time being cheated.
Right Niek, and if you refuse to pay then suddenly there are 4 tough Thai men standing around you who don't hesitate to beat you up. Then aggression is allowed.
That's right, but I didn't want to so blindly side with the bargirls even though I disapprove of any form of violence.
Making someone pay a bill for something he hasn't used is also a form of violence, isn't it?
A Thai is a master con man, even against his own people. When it comes to money I don't trust any Thai, sometimes you even have to watch out for your own wife.
There is still such a thing as tourist police in Thailand.
You can go there with your complaint and your bill.
If he starts brawling in a bar by himself and hitting women, he must have had a big drink.
Well, he was arrested, but he did cause physical damage. Hopefully he will be allowed to pay for the damage. Or will it be the soft approach? It is also foggy about what will happen to those two New Zealanders...
Punish well and register as persona non grata. What a weirdo that American is.
And what about the mafia that overcharges tourists time after time.
You would be afraid to have a beer in the nightlife area of Bangkok. If you don't pay the sky-high bill, you will be physically challenged until you have no choice but to finally pay. And all this is turned a blind eye.
But hey, if a farang does have the courage to respond, albeit in a drunken state, then this is written in large letters in all media.
And what is the cause of all this, let me guess... could the police perhaps be in on the action? OOPS, wrong reasoning!
A man who hits women is a coward. Whatever his reason may be.
Thailand is slowly going downhill, so keep serving alcohol until 4 o'clock in the morning.
Stupid of that American perhaps, but I can imagine that you would be pissed off.
It is easy to respond here on the blog, but it will happen to you.
Don't drink so much alcohol or if you don't like the bar, just don't go there anymore. Someone who cannot control his emotions and then also abuses women is the biggest weakling there is.
Abusing a woman is indeed wrong.
But it is okay to keep throwing sky-high bills under the tourists' noses in all kinds of ways. And the sad thing is that you can't do anything about it. As I read above, you can be happy that you will not be beaten by a number of Thai aggressive people.
We should stop pointing out a guilty party without knowing the details of the story. All those one-sided videos on the internet show what people want to see. A story ALWAYS has 2 sides. I would have liked to hear from that American what happened and was said beforehand.
Jonathan,
What happened first is unimportant. Challenging someone until he goes crazy, isn't that allowed? And then showing a part of a video that is relevant to the criminal case is what counts here.
Whatever that foreigner may say, he is guilty in advance. I am not aware of any conviction where a Farang beats a Thai. Let this be a clear message.
Dear Harry,
Aggression does not come naturally. I have the impression that the ladies provoked this themselves. And the alcohol is of course a catalyst.
But hey, when there's a Farang involved, there's only one culprit.
Haha Harry, I think fraud is weak too.
Didn't you read the topic here earlier this week that fraud in Thailand is increasing enormously? All methods are good for taking other people's money.
I think cheating tourists is just as bad as internet fraud. The difference is that the bars in the nightlife areas can operate freely. And yes, sometimes there is a 'loner' who asserts his rights.
Wouldn't the government be better off combating the cause instead of spreading the consequences in the media? Something to think about.
what about the free use of cannabis. Can have a major impact on mental health if used excessively. Add to that the alcohol consumption and voila, off you go.
It is very striking how things are changing in Thailand. It is not without reason that the government also wants to reverse the free use of cannabis. May it work.
A reaction that really makes no sense, the use of cannabis does not in any way encourage aggressive behavior, give me one example of a violent crime caused by cannabis use.
It would have been better if they had left the free use of cannabis untouched and started the battle with yaba, and by that I mean not only showing the confiscated consignments on television but also burning them, as during the war on drugs.
If we have to believe you, yaba is the cause of all the misery in Thailand.
This is about a frustrated foreigner who gets angry because some barmaids try to overcharge him. What yaba has to do with this is a mystery to me. Maybe we should talk about the real cause of this incident (i.e. the fraud...).
I don't need cannabis to be pissed off when people try to cheat me out of money yet again.
I am always vigilant when I receive a bill. There are numerous stories in the nightlife where tourists are deliberately charged far too much. If you refuse to pay, you will simply be knocked to the ground. And nothing is done about it.
All that nonsense about drug use has nothing to do with that. In most cases the cause lies with the money-hungry population.
Have you had a good look at the second part of the video?
People say: “That's where the aggressive ones come back against the ladies,” which is clearly not the case. It is the ladies who once again come for confrontation on their motorcycles. And apparently they have a billiard cue in their hands (not entirely visible). What was the point of that?
It turns out that our good kitties aren't so good after all if you ask me. Defrauding a farang of his money with a sky-high bill and then being surprised that he reacts aggressively. And afterwards they come and challenge everything again on their motorcycle.
This is another fine art of independent journalism. Putting the Farang in the wrong light without providing the TRUE facts. How sad.
Your response has made me curious Roger.
I hadn't watched the video yet, but now I do. And indeed, what I see there does raise some questions.
After the skirmishes in the bar, our kitty ladies are apparently out for revenge. The two of them go on their motorcycle to look for the American. You can clearly see the first person pointing with her hand when they have him in their sights. She is holding a long weapon in her hand, so I also think it is a cue.
We don't know what happens next because the American reacts quickly by dragging the ladies off the moped. And of course, according to the commentary on the video, he is once again the aggressive one. The challengers are the victims here and this will be eagerly used to punish him.
In Thailand, a Farang has no rights. A Thai, no matter how corrupt he is, is never to blame.
In this discussion I am missing the number of drinks that the gentleman had ordered. And what if that is true and the gentleman could not remember or did not want to remember?
