There is no active link? This is the message you've been waiting for! Finally.

I once consulted this source and the only thing I can deduce is that this concerns Domestic tourists. In other words, only for people who are already in Thailand. This does not concern international tourism. To this day, nothing has changed for that and an old terms and conditions + associated COE still apply. That's what I can find about it.

COE will continue to apply but the duration of the mandatory stay, for Bangkok ASQ and stay in Phuket sandbox will go from 14 to 7 days for vaccinees (vaccinated against covid 19 that is) and the number of covid 19 tests will go from 3 to 2.

This is good news. We leave for Thailand on October 22, so we only have to stay on Phuket for 1 week. After that we can stay with the family in Udon Thani for 1 week longer.

The COE continues to apply because I have just started the procedure. Everything has already been approved, I just booked my flight and I want to book my hotel in Chonburi.

        Lost my way now.

this is what i can find what will change in the coming months :(translated by google)

the prosecutor agreed to shorten the detention date by 7 days. no air condition is reduced to 14 days over land for 10 days. Nov. 10 expansion of the tourism area

On September 27, Dr. thaweesil vishnuyothin, a spokesperson for the center for the management of covid-19 situation, announced after the meeting that the meeting approved two adjustments for travelers entering the kingdom: 1. shortening the quarantine period. after seeing the relief,

the group has at least 14 days of vaccination certificates in all channels,
reducing the detention date to 7 days, receiving 2 tests on 0-1 and 6-7. if you come by air or water, which is tested first, hold for 10 days, enter and check for infection on 0-1 and on 8-9 days, and come by land that has not been tested before, keep it 14 days because it has a higher infection rate than by air.

    3. ADJUSTING THE MEASURES FOR ACTIVITIES IN THE AQ DETENTION FACILITY BY BEING ABLE TO SPORT OUTSIDE, SWIMMING, CYCLING IN A CLOSED LOCATION. ORDER OUTSIDE/EAT MEETINGS FOR BUSINESS PEOPLE CAN COME AT SHORT TERM. SQ AND OQ TYPES OFFER OUTDOOR WORKOUTS AND EXTERNAL ORDERS/MEALS.

Dr thaweesin md he said there are two sub areas of the tourism pilot opening criteria: 1. the guidelines for considering the opening of tourism pilot areas and 2. originally we map thailand in red. when the media went out, there was significant impact, even in some counties, some districts didn't stick around, but we announced them to cover outbreak management guidelines. some districts turned out not to stick at all.

by September 12-18, green is largely a no-match for disease control. the opening of activities should be realistic, but there should be steps and timings. the committee has considered the ns interior tourism committee for several meetings:

the blue area is phuket sandbox and 7+7 surat thani (koh samui, old phangan, koh tao), phang nga (khao lak). koh yao, krabi (phi phi island, koh ngai, railay, khlong muang it is the main city with a share of tourism revenue not less than 80% of the total revenue.

phase 1: November 1-30: raise the blue area to 10 other provinces: the main cities with a share of tourism revenue of not less than 15% of all tourism revenue, namely bangkok, krabi (whole province), phang nga ( the entire province), prachuap khiri khan (hua hin). nong kae phetchaburi (cha-am) chonburi (pattaya) bangkok area – samut na jomtien ranong (koh yam) chiang mai (a.muang) mae rim mae taeng, doi tao, loei (chiang khan) and buriram (a.muang)

phase 2: December 1-31, added 20 provinces, the main cities with less than 15% tourism revenue. there are neighboring provinces: chiang rai, mae hong son, lamphun, phrae, nong khai, sukhothai, phetchabun, pathum thani, phra nakhon si ayutthaya. samut prakan trat rayong khon kaen nakhon ratchasima nakhon si thammarat trang, phatthalung, songkhla, yala and narathiwat

period 3: from January 1, 2022 the 13 provinces bordering neighboring countries: surin, sa kaeo, chanthaburi, tak, nakhon phanom, mukdahan, bueng kan, udon thani, ubon ratchathani, nan, kanchanaburi, ratchaburi and satun.

It is not really clear with this Google translation.

As for the last sentence, Udon Thani province does not border any neighboring country, and I miss Nongkhai and Loei provinces. But this content will also be changed because in Thailand everything can change faster than the internet can handle…

Thailand will lift mandatory quarantine for fully vaccinated foreign travelers on November 1 in the capital Bangkok and nine other regions – including the popular tourist resorts of Chiang Mai, Phangnga, Krabi, Hua Hin, Pattaya and Cha-am – in a bid to restart tourism after 18 months. of strict measures.

Thailand previously opened Phuket and Koh Samui on a trial basis and with success. Both tourist attractions attracted 2019 million visitors in 40. From October 1, the quarantine period will be halved in the rest of the country. For vaccinated travelers from fourteen to seven days, for non-vaccinated visitors from three weeks to ten days.

In regions that are still 'red colored', more businesses and locations are also opening, including spas, libraries, cinemas, nail salons and gyms. Thailand is currently stepping up its vaccination campaign. At present, less than a third of the population has been vaccinated against the corona virus.

      • Ger Korat says up

Where does it say that Thailand is abolishing mandatory quarantine, I don't read it anywhere. I do read that they are opening certain areas, dark red zones, to vaccinated tourists from November 01, but it is still the case that you have to go into quarantine, although now shortened.

This story is indeed true. The Thai embassy in Austria has had this on their website for 2 days now: Quote: “LAST NEWS: THAILAND'S ENTRY REGULATIONS, INCLUDING QUARANTINE PERIOD, ARE BEING REVISED.
ISSUANCE OF COES FOR TRAVELERS ARRIVING IN THAILAND FROM 1 OCTOBER 2021 ONWARDS HAS BEEN SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.”

  8. Peter V says up

Where does it say temporarily no CoEs will be issued?

I can find that the conditions are * adjusted: https://www.thaienquirer.com/33231/quarantine-and-lockdown-measures-eased/
The great thing is that it not only gets shorter, you can also leave the room:
“The measures for people in alternate quarantine (AQ) facilities have also been relaxed where they will be allowed to exercise in an open-air facility, swim, ride bikes on designated routes, order food and other products online and conduct short meetings.”

*: with reservations of course, tit 🙂

I have an appointment at the Thai Embassy in Brussels on Wednesday 29-09.
I hope they can give me the right info there.

  10. jean says up

We received our COE last week and are leaving for Thailand on 1/10 so far still with 14 days of quarantine

    • PEER says up

      Butrrrr Jean,
When you have been vaccinated twice and, in Thailand, after the 2nd negative test, so after 7 days,
may you leave your ASQ hotel !

  11. Bert van der Kampen says up

I was at the embassy this morning for my visa application and COE, I specifically asked them if anything was going to happen, they knew nothing, of course. The fact is when I wanted to pay the quarantine hotel in advance, which is always required, they only wanted a deposit, and the rest to be paid on arrival. Proof to me that the full 14 days change after October 1.

  12. Dennis says up

This article from Reuters is rather specific: no more quarantine in Bangkok and 1 other regions from November 9. In the period October 1 to October 31, 7 days. Vaccinated, of course.

    https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/thailand-further-ease-coronavirus-restrictions-2021-09-27/

    • Ger Korat says up

I think the Reuters correspondent doesn't quite understand it; As of October 01, a few destinations will open (in addition to the already open destinations Phuket and Samui) for vaccinated people and from November 01, the dark red zones will be added, such as Bangkok, Hua Hin and more. But the quarantine of 7 days for vaccinated people remains. I constantly follow the news and I have not heard or read one announcement or message from the Thai government that the quarantine is being abolished.

      • I think you don't quite understand. It's about reopening Thailand to tourists. Mandatory quarantine is of course not a reopening.

        • Ger Korat says up

Well, I have not read anywhere about a reopening without quarantine, except in the message from the Reuters correspondent. But I am open to a source or report from the government or report in the Thai media, but I have not been able to read anything there yet.

          • Otherwise it is not a reopening but an extension of the Sandbox scheme. I haven't read anything about that either. But we can discuss it for hours. Waiting is the motto.

    Good Morning,
I have outsourced everything to CIBT and we are flying on October 6.
indeed also booked an ASQ hotel for 14 days, but also only paid 20% and the rest must be paid on arrival. This indicates that a reduction is coming.
Now last Friday our COE was rejected because a document was missing which CIBT wanted to upload again, but the site was down.
I am now very curious whether we still need a COE or not?
Anyone have an update on this?

  15. Gus Feyen says up

Does anyone know if there is an accelerated procedure to get a visa + COE? We thought we would go to Thailand somewhere at the beginning of October, but we can only make the first online appointment sometime at the end of October and then you have to wait another 2 weeks for the COE. Until before Corona you weren't allowed to come too early and now you apparently can't come early enough...

  16. Tony says up

The website of the Thai Embassy in Austria https://www.thaiembassy.at/en/coe.html has now been adjusted. They officially state the new rules:
“From October 1, 2021 onwards, quarantine period will be reduced from 14 to 7 days for fully-vaccinated travelers, and 10 days for unvaccinated/partially vaccinated travelers, subject to terms and conditions.

Those arriving in Thailand from 1 October 2021 who have been issued COEs under the old system (ie before 28 September 2021) may use their old COEs (no need to apply for new COEs); their quarantine period will be determined based on their vaccination documents upon entering Thailand.”

Below are the changes in the regulations.
