With which airline can I take 30 kg of luggage?
Dear readers,
I'm going to Thailand at the end of October, beginning of November. Before Covid I regularly flew with Emirates and was allowed to bring 30kg of luggage. Now I see that it is only 25 kg.
Has this changed everywhere? Are there any airlines that you can take more with you?
Regards,
Mike

Eve air.
Greetings Jan
Eva Air
Hallo,
This is still possible, but now you have to pay for it. Money for almost all companies.
We flew with Finnair, 23 kg. But because we also had a domestic flight, the weight remained at 20 kg per suitcase. We don't want to pay extra! So we had 3 suitcases with 20 kg each!
Was sufficient for us
If you fly with EVA you can take 2x23kg with you
Ben Geurts
30 kg per person, so two people 60 kg
I don't think it's a disaster that you use the same name, but make sure that your information is correct…..
See https://www.evaair.com/nl-nl/fly-prepare/baggage/free-baggage/checked-baggage/
With Eva air you can take 2 times 23 kg with you, which is already included in the ticket price in economy class
I'm not an expert but I've been looking at ticket prices and conditions for a while.
What I noticed: the maximum weight of a suitcase with many companies is 23KG.
Perhaps this weight because an average suitcase weighs 3 kg?
However, it is often possible to take 2 suitcases of 23 kilos as hold luggage, so 46 kg in total.
However, a suitcase of 23.5KG will be refused. In theory, you can pay hundreds of euros extra for 0.5 kilos of “overweight” (23.5 kilos in total) and the man behind you not a penny with 46KG of luggage.
Hand luggage is also a thing: KLM thinks 12 kg is fine, EVA Air 7 kilos. It is essentially a difficult question, I think: it also depends on the class in which you fly.
For me it is also an issue that I am working on. I'm around 23 kilos myself and have already made many concessions with regard to my luggage itself. I'm not going for 3 weeks and I have to take a lot of medication with me. This takes up kilos and space. I would be satisfied with the 25KG that Emirates in itself provided that the KGs of hand luggage is sufficient.
I am also curious about the reactions of others to your question!!
23 kilos is the weight that one person may lift in accordance with the Working Conditions Act.
So they have to lift a suitcase of 30 kilos with 2 people or use an aid.
Most airlines allow you to take 30 Kg of luggage with you, it's just a matter of booking extra luggage weight.
Most airlines start with the lowest fare, which of course also limits the allowable weight of luggage.
On the site of Thai Airways or Lufthansa, among others, you can also see these examples of the various booking options.
We are going with Qatar airways on August 3 and are allowed to take 30 kg
It has changed everywhere, I have only flown with Emirates, if you pay you can take 30 kg with you. If you want to come out cheaper, it is best to take the flex option, then you can also choose the standard seat for free, otherwise you will also pay separately for it. I had also been looking and saw at several others that it was less than 25 kg standard, some 20 to 23 kg.
I just arrived on 19th July with Emirates, you are allowed to take 32kg, and I should know because I had 39kg with me and had to leave 7kg ha ha
I'm flying with EVA air next week and I can take 30 kg of luggage there.
Dear Mike, I am going to Thailand on August 30 with EVA air. before the corona you were allowed to take 30 kg and 7 kg hand luggage. Now you can take 2x 23 kg per person and also 7 kg hand luggage.
I think the advantage of EVA air is that it flies directly to Bangkok.
Maybe this is for you. Greetings Evert
With Lufthansa, Swiss & Austrain Airlines you can take 2x 32 Kg with you when you fly business.
If you have a Gold Card, you can check in 1 extra suitcase of 32 kilos.
Hi Paul, with the Finnair Plus card always 4×23 kg when you fly Business.I just got back from BKK
Election
You can buy extra kilos, including klm and eva
With Turkish Airlines, 30 kg is still allowed.
Hi Mike,
With EVA, in the business, you can take 60 kg.
Moreover, you fly directly at the most favorable time.
Succes
Recently flew with Turkish Airlines via Istanbul to Bkk in economy class.
30 kg of luggage was allowed on this flight.
Thai airways still 30 kg
Qatar has 30 kg in economy class
Dear Mike,
If I read it all right, Eva Airlines allows you to check in 2 bags of 23 kg each for most tickets, which is even more than 30 kg.
See https://www.evaair.com/nl-nl/fly-prepare/baggage/free-baggage/checked-baggage/
Use it to your advantage.
Regards,
Nico
Dear Mike,
The 30 kg is still possible at Emirates, but your ticket will be more expensive.
You could take a look at eva air.
Regards Jack
Unfortunately, it is so Mike ... with most companies the limit on the basic rate has been brought to 23 to 25 kg ... of course you can carry 50 kg, but then it is butter with the fish.
Who knows, in the future when booking you will have to pass on your own weight + that of your luggage and your ticket price will be determined based on this ... so bad news for Mc Donald lovers 555.
I would say always look at the "full picture", including:
1) if you bring more than 23 or 25 kg.
I have noted differences of up to 120usd per flight with some airlines (between 25 and 30kg).
Thai Airways also reports 20, 30 kg and more and the difference between the two first mentioned is € 25 per flight.
2) the total flight time because via via you often lose one more day of your leave (both there and back), not to mention the physical fatigue.
3) 4 to 6 and even more hours “walking around” (it is any airport) in the Middle East can and will also cost you extra money, for sure.
So, as said, always put everything in a row, not just the additional cost in terms of weight.
I will fly in September next, as always, with TA to USM (this is not propaganda), rates are in line, shorter transit times .. and with that I also support the country I love. And no I have not seen any fear of losing my money, if we can believe it, they are on the right track.
We leave on October 27 with EVA AIR and are allowed to take 2 suitcases of 23 kg per person. So a total of 46 kg
EVA air, 2 x 23 kilos
Hi mike, at eva air you can still check in a 30kg bag in economy class.
Mike,
I recommend, for example, to https://www.momondo.nl and / or https://www.skyscanner.nl searching for travel dates (±3 days) and then checking the websites of the companies of interest to you to see how much hold luggage is included in the ticket price.
At EvaAir these days in Economy Up (B/Y) / Standard (Q/H/M) / Basic (V/W/S) and Premium Economy
Up (K) / Standard (T/L) / Basic (P) 2 suitcases of max. 23kg each included in the ticket price.
Qatar in Economy Class includes 30kg.
So with all tickets from Eva air you can take 2 * 23 kg with you?
Yes Mike.
For tickets purchased with effect from 23 June 2, 23 x XNUMX kg per person applies in the aforementioned classes without additional payment.
I bought such a ticket myself.
For tickets purchased before that date, Economy Standard (Q/H/M) / Basic (V/W/S) is 1 x 30kg and Economy Discount (A) is 1 x 20kg

I fly with Eva Air in February and have the cheapest ticket and it says that I can take 30 kilos with me.
Then you probably, like me, booked very early (before the end of May 2022)!
