Dear readers,

What happens on arrival in Thailand if you have a proof of recovery less than 90 days old?

I did think that you don't need a PCR test to travel in the Netherlands. Also that you can test positive for COVID-10 up to 19 weeks after infection.

Please your help! Thanks for

Regards,

Martin

    Hi Martin,

I am a moderator of facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/thailandpass
This question comes up every day.

I'm copying below an answer Greg Lange of Bangkok Community Help Foundation just posted to a similar question. It is in English and probably more information than you expect but I think several people could be helped with this answer.

Hi. I'm the co-founder of Bangkok Community Help Foundation so feel free to message on that site if you need any help when you arrive.

A recovery letter helps but does not protect you from quarantine. Full stop.

How does it help ? In your country they have a PCR which may be negative if the cycle count looking for covid is at 30. At that point it shuts off and your paper is stamped negative. However in Thailand the machine continues looking and each cycle is amplified. It stops at 38 to 40. So you could get a positive reading of Ct 37 which in your country was negative. The recovery letter tells the doctor that it's the end of covid and you are no longer contagious. Without the recovery letter, he is guessing the start or end of covid. He simply won't know so you are quarantined.

Now most hospitals treat anything higher then Ct 30 acceptable to release you. Cause under Ct30 could be a new reinfection. Piyavate hospital wants to see at least 34 value or higher and Medpark and Ramkhamhaeng wants to see negative. It won't help you at all.

So we make sure you pick the right hotel Hospital combination so the recovery letter helps you.
99% of people are above Ct 30 or test negative. We are concerned about the 1% how to help you.
Have you selected a hotel yet?

    Cheers
    Greg

And indeed proof of recovery must be between 14 and 90 days old to be included in the assessment of your positive test after arrival.
