Reader question: Hours of waiting in Phuket, who has tips?
Dear readers,
We land (in March) at 7.50:13.30 in the morning on Phuket, and take the boat to Lanta at 4:XNUMX. But to sit and wait on that Rassada pier for almost XNUMX hours…
What's the best way to spend those hours on Phuket after a long flight? Does anyone have a good idea?
Thank you in advance!
Regards,
I don't think you have many options for fun things to do in Phuket with your bags in hand.
You should also take plenty of time to be at the boat on time, in case there are traffic jams.
I would just spend 2 hours in a restaurant at the airport and then look for transport to the boat.
After a long flight, I benefit most from a good massage. It can be booked for 2 hours. Rent a large taxi for transport to a good Spa / massage. Bring suitcases. Hire the same taxi for 2 hours later. Big tip and he'll be back lol.
You land at 7.50:XNUMX, if the plane is on time.
So don't hesitate to take 8 hours into account. Then you don't have your bags yet and you haven't cleared customs yet. Feel free to take an hour for that.
You can easily take an hour for the ride from the airport to Rassada pier.
To get to and on the boat, you can also leave half an hour ahead, leaving 3 hours to do something sailing with your suitcases.
I'd like to take it easy after that long plane ride. Have a drink and a meal at the airport to be transported to the pier after an hour at ease. Those last 2 remaining hours I still enjoy myself on and around the pier.
For those few hours, just after a long flight in an often too cold plane, I wouldn't worry more than absolutely necessary.
Make it a nice quiet start to the holiday. You can still get busy all year round.
For that reason we only stuck to Phuket for one night with early check-in.
A good massage!! Plenty of options there!!
I also think the waiting time will be not too bad.
The last two times it took about 45 to 60 minutes before I had my bags and was outside. Everything depends on how busy it is at immigration. From the airport to Phukettown can sometimes be more than an hour's drive. Everything depends on the crowds.
So when you arrive, buy some food and water, exchange money and take a taxi, the waiting time is not too bad. And walking around with your bags at the Big Buddha doesn't really seem like a good idea to me.
happy Holidays
I understand you have a direct flight to Phuket. Possibly as an alternative a flight to Krabi? Closer to Koh Lanta. For the transport from Phuket to the pier I would leave some slack, 2 hours!? Not counting the arrival time on Phuket with possible delay there. Have a good holiday.
Please contact Boonsri Phuttipanya (Ell) from Emotion Travel. Speaks good English, owns this travel agency and is correct in dealing with it. She knows times, etc. like no other and gives you tips and advice. She can also pick you up at the airport and bring you to the pier and arrange "something" in the meantime, such as a visit to the waterfall (near the pier) or, as suggested earlier, a massage parlor.
Anyway, good luck and have fun. Her details are:

07.50 countries, then you can squeeze your hands if you have your bags at 09:00 and can go through customs.
Possibly. withdraw some initial money, buy a tourist SIM, 09.45.
Have a bite to eat and a drink in the restaurant, check email and Facebook, take some pictures, all go to the toilet and it's 10.45.
Departure taxi 11.00, arrival pier 11.45.
Check-in for ferry is I think 45 minutes before departure, 12.45.
Remains to be 'bridged' : 1 hour.
That's pretty much the leeway you have to take anyway in view of any delay, so I don't really see the problem.
Unless you're going to do everything possible from landing to race to that pier as quickly as possible, but it's vacation, right?
thanks for your suggestions!
do a foot massage or an oil massage nearby then you can rest costs only 5 euros for a foot and oil massage 8 euros if the baht is 40 but it is very cheap greetings
Hallo,
Ok run Relaxbay resort on Lanta.
Why don't you just take either a private van (4500 Thb), you can order at your hotel on Lanta, or the local join of (4-500 Thb) per person and book at the airport.
You will then be on Lanta in 4 1/2.
Count that you need another 4-5, rather 5 hours of travel to get to rassada via boat, or you have to take a private speedboat.
The brochures mention a 3-hour boat trip, but that's rubbish. Check in – sail – transfer to Phi-Phi. – sail – and then disembark . And then find a ride to the hotel or a taxi.
