On my wall in the house and on the porch there are thick wisps of vermin. What is that and what can you do about it? It goes on and on. Does anyone have advice?

If you took a picture of it, you would undoubtedly get a correct answer quickly.
With just this information, people can only guess.
Termites?
“thick wisps of vermin”?
Buy a can of insecticide and spray the entire line.
Would use a nitrile or neoprene glove, perhaps a mouth mask against mist.
Of course, a mouth mask does not help against the gas that is created. watch your breathing.
Spray and leave the house for an hour, then return and let the air blow for quite some time.
"It's what I would do and did against ants, but missed the glove and mouth cap..
So from my own experience, take care of your PPE. It is and remains poison.

I suspect you are talking about ants.
Those animals have the habit of walking behind each other in a 'string'.
A somewhat better description would have been useful, of course, about the appearance of that 'thick wisp'
