Dear readers,

I have blocks of gold in the Netherlands that I want to bring from the Netherlands to Thailand.

Does anyone know what the tax-free limit is in NL for exporting gold? And what is the limit for importing gold into Thailand?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Paul.

    Paul, you mean traveler's luggage?

I've never heard of a tax on gold. I advise you to call the tax telephone / customs, free of charge, 0800-0143.

If you take 10.000 euros or more in money and valuables with you, you must make a declaration to customs before departure. You can find it at Schiphol in Departure Hall 3.

Thailand has a limit of 20.000 baht; you can find that on thai customs site, http://www.customs.go.th.

Here's the full link from above:

    Prohibited (without license):
    1. Drugs of narcotic nature, eg heroin.
    2. Gold bullion. If no import license is available, it can be left in Customs bond at the airport of entry to be retrieved on departure.

Import of gold (monetary) prohibited without an import license, the above can be found on the Thai customs website link

Mike, when do you speak of gold and when do you speak of bullion?

I read elsewhere: Gold would include various forms of gold like coins, bars and other forms of the metal. When you talk of bullion, it also includes other precious metals like silver and platinum.

        @Eric
article from customs speaks of GOLD bullion…. So I thought it was clear, coins (gold) or others at least also fall under the monetary value as a common currency..
I don't read anything about silver.

As always in Thailand, it will depend on who you meet in the event of an inspection, so I have brought in a lot of food from our countries in a suitcase, but never ever Hema sausage 555, which falls under the mad cow disease exclusions for meat, with high penalties even jail

        Gold bar = Gold bullion
A gold bar, also called gold bullion or gold ingot, is a quantity of refined metallic gold of any shape that is made by a bar producer meeting standard conditions of manufacture, labeling, and record keeping. Larger gold bars that are produced by pouring the molten metal into molds are called ingots.

Apart from what Mile Jordan reported: Prohibited -without license: 2. Gold bullion:

Don't you always get a form on the plane on which you have to fill in whether you enter something that has a value above a certain amount? Forgot what this amount is…

In Thailand they swear by 24 karat gold so I don't know if it's a good idea to bring gold from here. I think it is better to sell in the Netherlands, but of course I am not a specialist.

Well, you must have a very special reason to do something like that. I trade gold myself, but I think it's best to keep in a Vault (gold depot) in Europe, eg BullionVault, very good and very reliable with daily audit, cheap and easy to trade.
