With a return ticket from Amsterdam to Koh Samui, your luggage will be labeled and you can immediately proceed to domestic or is it to collect your luggage and go through customs and then to domestic?

    Hi Dirk,

    We arrived on Koh Samui last week, at Schiphol we indicated that we were flying on to Koh Samui.

    Arriving on Koh Samui, the luggage came from the plane from Bangkok to Koh Samui, super easy!

    If one ticket has been issued for the entire journey, as your question suggests, it goes without saying that your luggage will also be labeled directly to your final destination. If they are separate tickets, it depends on the respective airlines. Bangkok – Koh Samui will be with Bangkok Airways, which has agreements with a large number of airlines on this subject.       Thanks for your response, but does that also mean that you can walk directly to domestic and go through passport control on Koh Samui and get your tourist visa there?

      Is there an internal possibility of transport for difficult walking?

        Dear Dirk,
        You can indeed walk on to your domestic flight, and you will first get through customs control at your destination, where you will receive your suitcase.

    Last April we flew from Koh Samui via Bangkok to Amsterdam (Bangkok Airways > China Airways).
    The luggage was immediately labeled for Amsterdam on Koh Samui and arrived without any problems (and looking back).
    I assume the same applies vice versa.

    I think it's quite a walk. Maybe you can ask the ground staff if you can ride with such a cart.

    Dirk, you have to arrange transport for the needy in advance with the airline you fly to Bangkok with, I believe that with China Airlines it is also a question in the booking process on the internet.

    If you have difficulty walking, you can (usually) already do this when purchasing a ticket, inform the relevant company by telephone later, or at check-in. Less well organized at Schiphol than in Thailand, where people are already waiting for you there with a wheelchair and take you where you need to be, including the baggage carousel and customs passage.

    Dear Dirk,

    All information is correct regarding the forwarding of luggage. As for internal transport: this is possible both in BKK and at Samui Airport and can even be ordered in advance, which is best done. You will have to pay a small extra for this extra service. Upon arrival on Koh Samui you have to disembark from the plane via a staircase, so keep that in mind. Everything else at Samui Airport is provided for disabled people.

    about being disabled. Every airport has a service for this. If you indicate this to the airline (or travel agency) you will be accompanied from the plane to the transfer. Usually this service costs something, but the convenience is there and you will be treated with priority everywhere.

    if you have difficulty walking, report this to the airline you are flying with, or at check-in.
    In Thailand you will be met with a wheelchair at the exit of the plane, they will guide you everywhere, from baggage claim, customs, etc.
