Reader question: Who has experience flying with Aeroflot to Bangkok?
Dear readers,
I want to go to Thailand again in February.
I saw that Aeroflot has competitive prices at the moment. My question is, has anyone flown with Aeroflot in the last month? And how is your experience?
With kind regards,
French
Frans, for me that is 10 years ago. Bangkok-Moscow with Aeroflot and with Ryan to Schiphol.
Wonderfully flown in a copy of a Boeing. I flew cheap business and had a seat similar to the Eva class with a little more legroom. The economy seats were … well … and the first class seats were comparable to what is called business elsewhere. The flight attendants were of solid build and not the youngest anymore.
But it's been so long, things must have changed for the better. I would get in again in a heartbeat. I just read an offer.
So far I have flown the most with Aeroflot, but then from Düsseldorf, and I have always liked that very much, in the beginning I thought, oh oh with all those Russians!, but no problems whatsoever, good care, clean interior, nice and charming staff, and important, very modern aircraft, and as for the stopover at Sheremetyevo, that is doable, everything is clearly marked clean and tidy, therefore never found the transfer a problem, rather in my opinion, a pleasant stopover .
Correct, nothing to complain about
Johan
Yes, I have experience with Aeroflot and I will never fly with them again.
The problems:
1. Delay due to a drunk Russian who did not want to disembark;
2. Passengers who drink the tax-free alcohol purchased during the flight (from the bottle) under the eyes of the stewardess, while it is announced that this is not allowed;
3. My suitcase did not come with me during the transfer in Moscow. It arrived in Amsterdam a day later.
My experiences with Aeroflot (some years ago because of work) in economy:\
1. Western aircraft (Airbus 321, 330, Boeing 777s)
2. Staff correct and insofar as you consider it important: Quite charming (KLM staff are older and grumpier)
3. Eating is doable. There is better, but also worse
Downside: Some Russians are arrogant and selfish. But that will not sound strange to the Pattaya-goers among us
I flew from Dusseldorf to BKK - business class - was fine with an almost full bed as a seat.
Lots of booze and lots of drunk Russians. Transfer in Moscow was a disaster - ugly airport - little to no English indications and a long walk. But flying to BKK again excellent. 1000 euros!
Best to do this trip, I must say that I usually sleep. Only the transfer in Moscow I find less because of terrible people who are supposed to provide the service there, rude people.
reasonable service cheap if you want to fly cheap
but not the best service
Have already flown twice with Aeroflot there and back from Bangkok to Brussels.
Aeroflot offered the lowest prices, but now there are other airlines that fly at the same conditions, such as Finnair last year.
The disadvantage of Aeroflot is that no alcohol is served on the line to and from Bangkok, no beer, no wine, not even Vodka!
Have a nice trip and welcome to Thailand.
Dirk
it is done Russian-style – kajesna – but I have no problem with that. I have always liked it; in any case better than KLM - far too sterile and arrogant service -! the planes also fly better than the American ones; sometimes the chairs could be better.
I would take a look at the worldwide statistics regarding accidents involving the aircraft from Russia.
Then your choice is quickly made.
Then make a difference between international and domestic in Russia. Then you can revise your choice.
Only used it once and I wanted to leave it at that:
During the stopover in Moscow I thought I had ended up at the Stazi.
Food was mediocre to bad and the return trip (AMS-Moscow) used a worn-out and cramped Boeing.
Many of us complain about KLM, but it still stands head and shoulders above the rest.
About a year ago I flew with Aeroflot to Bangkok, and back, in economy.
Once, but never again.
– Food was very tasty, and I'm really not a fussy eater
– Service: apart from the obligatory distribution of dinner and breakfast, you can wait a very long time for a response to the bell.
– Surly flight attendants, and never a smile. Like everything you ask for is too much
– I was continuously addressed in Russian, and when I kindly asked for English, I was looked at with the proverbial fire-breathing look
– Sheremetyevo: Not too bad
If you're not hungry, grab a bottle of water as soon as you get on board, and sleep for the rest, it's doable.
But for a few euros more you can, for example. Austrian Airlies fly, much better!
Bad experiences with Aeroflot… water from the ventilation system… transfers very messy… and given the current situation I would say; boycott those Russians…. those lazy ones don't track…
January 2013 with airoflot AMSt to Bangkok. To start with, 2 hours delay… Fortunately in Moscow too, otherwise we missed the connecting plane. No suitcases on arrival in BKK… Arrived a day later. Meanwhile on the plane unfriendly mood .. Cabin crew decidedly unfriendly / sullen .. Speak unintelligible English. Food is “provided”, not served. Many drunk Russians on board,,,, sometimes very noisy… Landing in Moscow on a runway that was not properly cleared of ice… Consequence: slight slide !!! On the way back, riots in front of the Aeroflot counter. Reason: aircraft was heavily overbooked… Russians did not accept this and almost fought each other…. During the flight, a Russian with a sense of humor said to me: THIS IS AEROFLOT.., SOMETIMES WE FLY…, SOMETIMES NOT…!
If you want to say something special after returning home…, fly with Aeroflot…. This year I pay Euro 560,00 all in for a direct flight with EVAAIR
Just do it and you will see if you like it, have a nice flight.
Dear French,
Although I have no experience flying with Aeroflot, I would like to advise you. I think you shouldn't ask yourself, despite the nice prices, whether you like their service, but more whether you should fly with Aeroflot at all. After all, it is a 100% state company that can be held responsible for the crash of MH17, which directly destroyed almost 300 lives, of which almost 200 were Dutch passengers.
