Reader question: Experiences about speed when applying for CoE Thai embassy in Belgium?
Dear readers,
While I read that it takes 2 to 3 days at the Thai embassy in the Netherlands to obtain a Certification of Entry (CoE), I am told that it takes 7 working days at the Belgian embassy.
What are the experiences of others who have applied for a CoE at the Belgian embassy?
Regards,
Niek
With Belgian embassy is of course meant Thai embassy in Belgium (Brussels); sorry, just to be clear.
Incidentally, I have had excellent telephone contact with embassy employees, who say that everything is in order in the prescreening and it is only a matter of waiting for the consent of the consul.
Due to the high number of applications for CoE, they prioritize people who have a flight on shorter notice than I do.
I had some problems at first because I had chosen the wrong category, but once this was resolved, I had my Coe in 2 working days.
With my wife everything went through email and telephone. All documents were in order in 1 day and she received the COE 2 days later. She still had to hurry to catch the plane because her flight was already 3 days later.
I don't understand this,.. apply for the CoE at the TH embassy in Brussels ?? I thought this should be requested via email at http://www.coethailand.mfa.go.th or am i completely wrong??
You don't request it by email, but online. That application is then processed by the Thai Embassy in Brussels. In the application process you have to select your country and the relevant Embassy.
The link you provide is incomplete. Here's the correct one:
https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/
there is a chance of misunderstanding. Certificate of entry has two phases. The first is concluded with a pre-approval.
A number of items must then be handed in. Including flying ticket, asq booking. Then you will receive the final approval, i.e. Certificate of Entry (COE).
The first phase is a few days at beel embassies, three to six, but I don't know whether those are working days or total days. The second phase requires a number of bookings. So it will usually take a few days. ASQ in particular does not seem to run so smoothly because you have to approach each hotel separately and wait for an answer. This has recently become possible via Agoda, but it is still in the start-up phase.
I didn't get my CoE until 12 days after I correctly submitted all the paperwork and after repeated phone calls and emails. Very stressful!
Hello Niek, were the weekends included in those 12 days, or only working days?
I applied for and obtained my visa at the Thai consulate in Antwerp.
Started the COE application yesterday and received an email today from the Thai embassy in Brussels that they need the following additional documents:
proof of flight there and back
- Bank statement with at least 1000 euros
proof of full residence in Thailand
I find this strange since I already had to hand over all these documents at the consulate in Antwerp to obtain my visa.
Has anyone else been asked this?
