Dear readers,

First of all great blog… Very interesting all.

I was wondering if the latest message regarding visa is still up to date? Posted May 18, 2014. I am now in Chiang Mai and have to leave and re-enter the country in a few weeks due to my triple visa (3 x 60 days). Is there a chance that after departure I will no longer be allowed to enter the country because something has changed again or do the new rules still only apply to Visa Exemption?

I ask you because I hear so many stories and I feel like if you don't know, who does?

Thanks.

Regards,

Bart

Dear Bart,

First of all, nobody can say with certainty what is possible or not, because clear guidelines are not (yet) available. Everyone is looking a bit at August 12, hoping to read clear guidelines from Immigration by that date. Therefore, I can only give my personal opinion, which is based on information that has appeared in the media. However, an immigration officer may have a different opinion and of course he has the final say

The conclusion I draw is that people are mainly targeting those people who want to stay and/or work in Thailand for a long time, and therefore abuse the Tourist Visa or Visa Exemption. They want these people to purchase a visa that is in accordance with the purpose of their stay.

Those who encounter problems always have a history, such as multiple entries on Visa Exemption, Back-to-Back visa runs, Back-to-Back Tourist visas or extensions thereon.

As for your question - I don't know your history of being in Thailand, of course, but if you don't have such a history, I don't think there is a problem. In the other case, it is better to go to an immigration office or border post and ask for the necessary information there.

By the way, this is the best advice I can give to anyone at the moment if you are unsure about your visa. Visit the immigration office or border post and ask what is and is not allowed there.

Just one more thing (for everyone). There is no need to panic now. People who just come on annual vacation really don't have to worry.
You will receive your Visa Exemption without any problems if you stay for a maximum of 30 days, and if you want to stay up to 60 days, you will also be able to obtain a Tourist Visa without any problems. to request. You will not notice any of these new rules. Above all, enjoy your stay in Thailand.
