Is the new IconSiam in Bangkok worth it?
Dear readers,
I read something about the new mega on Thailandblog shopping mall in Bangkok: IconSiam. I wondered if any readers have already been there and if it's worth checking it out? Is it worth the detour or just the umpteenth mall?
And can you easily get there by Skytrain?
Greetings,
Monique
We were there a month or two ago
I personally wouldn't make a detour for it and my wife and daughter don't need a 2nd visit either.
But that is of course our experience and others will have a different experience.
It's just what you're looking for. I myself like real designer stuff and then you can score something nice for a reasonable price. The Sky train to Saphan Taksin then the free shuttle boat. There are 100 restaurants so you won't go hungry. Also check out the website on the internet.
Nice to spend a morning or afternoon "shopping", slightly different from the other malls (Paragon MBk Zen etc.)
Sky Train to Taksin and indeed the shuttle boat to the other side!
I liked the decor with those waterfalls.
Beautiful terrace above the river, but, 1 beer and 1 wine 575 THB !!
We have eaten very extensive and delicious Suhshi,
At the checkout, the chef came to us: everything was free, it was the day before the official opening and today we practiced whether everything went well.
Wonderful experience.
Hard to determine that for you.
I myself enjoyed seeing it, no more and no less. Definitely wouldn't bother going again.
Nice that you can have lunch outside on the terrace at the chao phraya.
There are free boats from taksin and from ratchawongse (China town)
For someone who likes to go shopping, IconSiam is really a must. It's fantastic.
I understand that some people prefer not to go to a mall and certainly don't want to walk around for hours.
But for those who like it and want to see a real high-class mall. Definitely go.
There are several options. The easiest are
1. Sky train to Saphan Taksin and a free shuttle boat
2. Sky Train Khrung Thonburi and a free shuttle bus.
Have already been twice, it is beautiful, and recently I was able to buy three small handmade vases,
I'm not much of a shopper but have been there few times.
Saw generally more wealthy crowd.
Wide variety of products in the many shops: from shirts to Porsche and Rolls Royce.
Not always in the courtyards, so sometimes, a show: even ballet.
Outdoor terrace on the river is relaxed.
It was worth a visit for me, nice to have seen.
Then with the Express boat possibly downstream to the Flower market or Chinatown?, worth it.
Finally, the Royal Palace complex?, this is much less interesting than before: too many tourists in a much smaller space than before; not worth the entrance fee.
Would you rather stop on the way back with the Express boat to visit the Wat Arun temple (on the right)?
Have a good trip and have fun.
If you like glitz and glamour, you should see IconSiam once, but you can leave it at that one time. There is little dynamism in the glitz and glamor and only on certain days/periods (such as Songkran, Christmas) is there a show, fireworks or other event.
I work across the river (in the CAT tower) and it would be a breeze for me to cross the river every day for lunch or shopping. But I never do. There is much more vibrant dynamism in the markets in Bangkok.
We are there at the end of Feb. been . The ground floor was colorful and not unpleasant. All very artificial.
But the other floors are spacious, I would say too spacious. There was little audience so that's why it was uncomfortable.
My wife soon saw . This is no longer necessary.
