Installing a WiFi network in my condo in Pattaya
Dear readers,
I want to install a WiFi network in my condo, to be able to use both a computer and a smart TV. There is no cable connection so I have to go for a router with a SIM card.
I have already been to various providers in Pattaya such as Dtac, AIS and Truemove, but that does not make me any wiser. Employees there each tell a different story.
Are there any readers who can give advice regarding provider and which option is best?
So it is not a cable connection.
thanks in advance
Regards,
Jan
Dear Jan
We also had go to TOT lay cable within an hour
Greetings Frans
Last year I was at TOT in Pattaya, asked for a connection, but because I lived on the 2nd floor I couldn't get a connection… Apparently no cables are laid higher than the ground floor!
If you bring an old telephone with you and put a SIM card in it, for example from True there unlimited 4g a 600 bath p month, you can set up a WiFi hotspot. This way you have WiFi for all your other devices.
You don't have to have an old phone. My new phone has a SIM card from AIS. AIS then puts the same unlimited 600G with 4 Mbps for 6 Baht per month. They also do this in all Telewiz branches. With the hotspot I have unlimited internet of good quality all month long on my TV (EuroNLTV), on my iPad and on my laptop and even on the beach all my friends can hitch a ride for free on my hotspot. So always and everywhere internet on all your devices, even those of someone who is within 10 meters of you!
I now live in Viewtalay 2 in Jomtien and so I can receive all internet in my condo without cables and even watch my TV, without hitches, malfunctions or inconveniences.
An alternative for residents in my apartment building is to take out an internet subscription from TrueMove for 799 Baht per month (annual contract) and have Viewtalay install a cable from the ground floor to your condo somewhere above, for 1750 Baht one-off costs.
I am very satisfied with 3BB about the service and the quality of the internet. But I don't have a condo but a house where a cable could be installed (10.000 Baht). Still, I'd say go check it out.
An acquaintance of mine lives in Thailand, his name is Marco Weegerink.
You can try to contact them via Facebook.
He is an ICT expert and has his own company in Thailand.
Succes
I am a 3bb router and pay per year. My laptop, my top box and 2 mobiles work perfectly. Office 3bb thepressit road near Sukhumvit road opposite Bangkok Bank
We first had air just which regularly failed when it rained somewhere
Then TRU because of the service for TV signals and for the first time a fiber optic connection. Previously that was not possible in the hole where I live.
TRU also regularly cut out or simply stopped while watching a movie up to 20 times in one evening.
TRU out and 3BB fiberglass in it, no TV signal because 3BB doesn't do that, but perfect internet, no more stopping movies, no failures and that for 640 Bath. With smart TV, no TV signal is needed anymore, it just works on the internet.
