Home » Reader question » Reader question: Who knows furniture stores in the Phimai/Khorat area?
Dear readers,
I'm looking for furniture stores in the Phimai/Khorat area.
No Ikea, but solid teak or other hardwood (beds, cupboards, tables, etc.).
Possibly a website in other provinces where you can order online via a catalog is also allowed.
My gratitude
Yours faithfully,
Harry
Harry,
About a half hour drive from Chiang Mai you can buy beautiful furniture. They bring it wherever you want. They also sell other things even merchants buy there why take a look
Really quality myself I live in the Netherlands bought several things. It remains beautiful. Friends of ours live in HuaHin who also bought there and are raving about the quality. If you want more information, let us know. Gr. Christina
Indeed, south of Chiang Mai is the place for a diversity of furniture. The place is called: Ban Tawai.
Coincidentally bought some things there last week and had them shipped to Hua Hin. 2 large crates and 2 large paintings. Cost: 3500 baht. Insured and professionally packed.
@ Wim: Would you please let me know the address where you bought that furniture? A friend of mine who lives in Phuket wants to go there and also to that "wood carving village", he used to do wood carving and wants to see how they do it there, also to buy furniture in that shop where you bought. My email adress: [email protected].
We bought furniture in Korat a few years ago. It looked like solid, sturdy furniture, but now, about 4 years later, they have started to pull and tear, so that we are obliged to buy new ones. Cause: wet wood is used to make furniture and if it starts to dry after having it in the house for a while, you get broken furniture. Watch carefully where you buy and what you buy is the message.
Almost 9 years ago we bought furniture here in Pattaya, at Decorum.
A nice large dining table with ditto chairs.
A fairly wide TV cabinet and a beautiful wide wall unit.
Very special models with a very good finish.
It all weighs very heavy, but absolutely not a thing that differs or the like.
Of course teak, but not the teak that is still sold with the diapers on.
Because that is the biggest misery when they make furniture from teak that is too young.
Then you get cracks where you can park your car.
And since we hate buttons or anything like that to open a cupboard or drawer and still have no problems with that, it goes without saying.
But, they are expensive.
And quite arrogant.
At least at the time.
They promised me something with the last delivery.
Guttegut, they didn't know anything about it!
They have now moved to Thepprasit road in Jomtien.
And I don't know shipping costs, but you can also rent a truck yourself.
LOUISE
Furniture is sold not so far from Phimai.
At Prahtai place. The shop is located just before Prahtai on the road from Non Daeng to Prahtai.
I bought a lovely leather relax chair with footstool there. Good quality years ago.
Harry,
If you come from Korat towards Chockchai then just before Do-home you have a very small road that goes to a furniture store, almost impossible to find. He has a lot of teak there, dried through and through and they can make your furniture to measure. Make your own drawing or take a photo and they will make it for you. They are not cheap but a quality that will last for generations. if you are interested please email me because it is very hard to find. My email address is:[email protected]
Hank.
thanks everyone for the info!
meanwhile the girlfriend has already found an address in Chumpuang; they have a small showroom there, but you can also view the catalog there and place an order.
the furniture comes from Chiang Mai; delivery time 1 week and very democratic prices for good quality.
I am 100% sure that it is good quality because she has knowledge of wood and craftsmanship ... I once walked into a few furniture stores with her and saw her inspect a table .... top OK, legs not of the same type of wood, minuscule holes in the wood.... shouldn't I say... they already have bugs in it and 2 different types of wood 😉
I assume you live in Phimai , then you must have heard of talat pet (8) on the 8th 18th and 28th of every month big market on the outskirts of phimai . There are usually meabel sellers who may be of service to you.
Dear Harry,
I'm a little late responding, but you've got it here.
From Korat towards Chok Chai (road nr.224) you will come across Do-home.
3 to 500 meters further on the same side you will come across a nice shop.
I think the case is called Major.
Good luck, Alex
