Home » Reader question » Reader question: Experiences with selling your car in Thailand
Dear readers,
My question is: does anyone here on the blog have experience selling your car?
Ok, I know there are websites for this like, bathsold.com, thailandblog, etc., but I would like to know if there are people here who have sold their car in the past with a "local" used car dealer, was that easy?
Was cash immediately paid in hand or were you fobbed off with a very low amount?
I ask this question if I want to trade in my current car at an official brand dealer to hardly find one who wants to make a deal regarding trade-in.
Regards,
William
Hello William,
I sold my car in Thailand in various ways, in the beginning to a private individual, the problem is that most Thais who buy a second hand car have no cash, the private individual in question, who worked for a hotel company, and for that reason could showing that he had a regular income, thus managed to finance it.
You have little chance at a dealer, although Toyota now has a company, the name of which escapes me, that buys or sells 2nd hand.
On Phuket I have found reasonable 2nd hand car companies that hand over a valuable amount of money in cash, so there are.
Furthermore, my experience is that with other private individuals the biggest problem is the cash. They come to look at first, but then drop out with some excuse.
I managed to sell my last Toyota pick-up Hilux to a dealer for a reasonable price, and now regularly calls me if I want to sell the current one.
He says he likes to buy from foreigners because they regularly service a car according to the book. And that is somewhat different with a Thai.
Oh yes, now I know about Toyota: Toyota Sure, certified centers.
When you buy a new car, the dealer calls a dealer who offers you a price for your car. You can negotiate about that.
Many cars are also sold via auction for good prices. You can indicate a minimum price yourself, below which the car will not be sold, if not sold it will only cost 200 bath. (pattayabid.com) is very good.
William, maybe it is an idea to describe what kind of car you have and what specifications such as type, mileage, no damage, year of manufacture, color, etc. Of course also a price indication! And where to view, or test drive!
Perhaps there are readers here who are interested in your car, good luck!
what kind of car is it
maybe I want to buy it

Just drive past 4-5 car shops (take your booklet with you) and ask what they give, but act quickly, ie deliver immediately for cash.
Have already sold a few cars in this way because they do not trade in, they also call a trader who buys it from you; every dealer has a few buyers!
You can also have the car auctioned; there are 2 auction houses in Pattaya.
Also via the internet, for example www. bahtsold .com for sale.
It is still possible to take a photo and hang it in large department stores.
Last option; put for sale on this page, good luck!!!!!!!
