Reader question: Experiences of hemodialysis in Hua Hin
Dear readers,
I would like to know if there are people who have experience with hemodialysis in Hua Hin? And if so, which healthcare provider is preferred?
I plan to go to Cha Am in October for a few days but I am on dialysis.
Thank you for any responses.
Regards,
Kees
I am also very interested in this, my brother is on dyalise 3x a week and would like to go to Thailand in the future, so I would also like to know more about this, although I think it is best to get information from the relevant hospitals
Dear Kees and Noortje,
In Hua Hin in the private hospital San Paulo hospital Hua Hin there is a fairly large Hemodialysis department
website: http://www.sanpaulo.co.th Email: [email protected]
Address: 222 Petchakasem Road, Hua Hin
The private hospital Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin also has a small hemodialysis department.

Address: 888 Petchakasem Road, Hua Hin
I am not a dialysis patient myself, so I have no experience with either hospital on this point. The Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin opened in 2011 and is more modern than the San Paulo hospital, which says nothing about the quality of the care offered. It should be noted that the medical care in private hospitals in Thailand is generally good to very good. You can obtain information from both hospitals well in advance, including about costs, pay yourself and declare afterwards to your health insurer, or your health insurer can make advance agreements about the payment of the costs with the hospital, duration of hemodialysis per treatment, transport to and from the hospital from your place of residence before and after treatment, etc. I hope that you can continue with this information.
Sincerely,
Jan Ruitenberg
Unfortunately, my wife has been a dialysis patient for 10 years, but that does not stop us from spending the winter in Thailand every year. We are not fans of the dialysis department of the San Paulo hospital as we were not received very friendly at the time. With the announcement 'it is full' and 'there is no other good doctor in the area', that was also enough for us. At that time we simply went to Bangkok 3 times a week. Far but very good was the Samitevej Hospital. Highly recommended in Bangkok. When the Bangkok Hospital opened, from that first year onwards we always had dialysis performed there for at least 1 or 2 months. Although only 2 or 3 people per day, there was always a place available. Maybe not on the normal day and time. Good service and machines and clean. Skilled nephrologist and usually good nurses. They change staff there every time, because that is normal in Bangkok. The doctor and most nurses speak good English. Just make sure that everything is properly arranged regarding your reimbursements because they strictly adhere to the maximum amount stated on the insurance guarantee letter and you have to pay the rest in cash. Everything is calculated as here in Holland and usually it is more expensive (overpriced for foreigners).
Conclusion: just go, dialysis is the same only watch your paperwork.
