Home » Reader question » Do you have to wear a face mask on a flight from Emirates to Bangkok?
Dear readers,
Has anyone recently flown with Emirates from Brussels or Amsterdam or other airports to Bangkok? Is it true that you still have to wear a mouth mask for the entire flight, transfer time in Dubai and until Bangkok (about 17 pm)?
I have a flight in September.
Regards,
Ronny
Editors: Do you have a question for the readers of Thailandblog? Use it contact form..
Hi Ronnie,
Yes this is correct for now.
I traveled to Thailand in June and was required to wear a mask for the entire trip, including at Dubai airport.
I work at Schiphol, and I see the Emirates crew (and a few other airlines) still wearing face masks, so that is still the case in the current situation; face masks mandatory.
This may change before you go, but this is the current status regarding your question.
Kind regards, Michel
Affirmative, Emirates still requires wearing the face mask.
Have a look at the link below.
https://www.emirates.com/english/help/covid-19/safety/
On the Emirates site…
You must wear a cloth or medical mask throughout Dubai International airport, during boarding, throughout your flight, and as you leave the aircraft. Children under 6 years old and customers who have certain medical conditions do not have to wear a mask. Due to local government regulations, only medical face masks are accepted on flights from Dubai to Germany, France, and Austria.
Month ago back in NL
Both outward and return flight mask .. mandatory ..
Both flights after an hour hardly anyone fly on a mask anymore
Crew said nothing about this at all
Was relaxed.great service and good food
Just do it
Really great!!!
Dear ; yes I flew to Bangkok with Emirates in May and had to keep my mouth mask on for the whole flight, also at the end of June with the return flight.
You could take a look at their website and if it is not on the website then they also have an information number (020) - I would in any case take a few face masks with me on the plane even if it is not necessary - I will go myself again in December, but take them with you on the plane) and my own face masks for use there, because then I know I have the right ones.
At the beginning of July this was indeed the case.
Just flew to Bangkok with Emirates. That's right, you have your mouth mask on throughout the flight and also in Dubai during the transfer.
You can throw a blanket over your head, supposedly because you are sleeping. Surely they're not going to pull that blanket off your head. Then you will at least be rid of that horrible face mask.
……and then in Thailand – except in your own room – inside or outside, doesn't matter, also a mask. If you don't, you will be looked at strangely.
Greetings William
I don't wear a mask in Thailand and nobody looks at me strangely. Grow a little more self-confidence I would say.
In my opinion it has nothing to do with self-confidence, but more with respect for the
health wishes (whether justified or not) of the (Thai) fellow citizen. In Pattaya I still see every day that at least 95% of people wear a face mask in shops, in the songthaew, etc.!
It is better for Thais, if they respect their own health wishes, to wear a helmet on a motorbike and not get drunk behind the wheel. The mask obligation has been abolished by the Thai government. That they think a face mask helps, is up to them. There are also Thai who wear amulets and therefore think they are protected against everything. I don't participate in that nonsense.
I flew from Frankfurt on August 1st. Almost everyone wore a mask, especially when boarding, but also during the flight.
Flew with Emirates on July 18, mouth mask required, even got one on board together with gel for hands.
back with lufthansa the day before yesterday.
yes they do say mandatory, but after 1 hour half of the plane isn't wearing anymore, so relax!
Ronny's question has now been answered amply, but I have the same question for my upcoming flight in September with FinnAir, AMS-BKK, but I can't get an answer to this.
(I hope the moderator will allow me to add this question as this is the same topic.)
I called customer service and then you will be connected to a call center in India, but they don't know either, and advise me to bring a face mask just to be sure, but I don't want to bring a face mask at all, let alone wearing one, then I prefer to stay at home, so that's why I want to know, so I don't want to hear it at Schiphol until I've been standing in line for 4 hours. If I have to wear a face mask for the entire trip, I get very stuffy, these face masks are bad for my health.
Fellow travelers are the right people to provide each other with information, the airline (how is this possible!) often does not know.
Is there anyone here who knows more about FinnAir?
Thanks in advance, Regards Leo
'The airline often doesn't know'………..but the information from other travelers is of no use if that airline ultimately decides otherwise. If traveling with a face mask or not is so crucial to you that your decision to fly or not depends on it, I wouldn't let it come down to check-in time.
Incidentally, you also just read on the Finnair website that wearing a mouth mask is optional, unless the country of destination requires otherwise. Thailand has not made that requirement, so you are free to wear a face mask or not.
