Dear readers,

I will be moving from the Netherlands to Thailand with my husband in January. We will settle in the Chiang Dao area. I would like to be able to make contact with Western women (Dutch or English speaking) or good English or Dutch speaking Thai women in Chiang Dao or the surrounding area who would like to help me with all kinds of practical matters. Possibly language lessons, but also to exchange experiences and to maintain friendly contact if it clicks in that area.

I am creative and have a broad interest in photography, film, music, literature, nature, philosophy and Buddhist vision of life, healthy food and lifestyle, alternative housing such as mudhouses or bamboo-building, self-sufficient living and much more.

I'm 55 years old and a bit of an old hippie 😉

I especially ask for reactions from women, age is not important!

With warm regards,

Mieke

Do you mean Chiang Dao 75km (1h30min) north of Chaing Mai city?
It took me a while to find this place with Maps, because Maps very often mislocates things in the case of TH.

      Yes, that place I mean.

If you want that, you better live in the civilized world. Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang mai, Hua Hin

      Thank you 😉

In almost every “hamlet and farm town” and ordinary places you meet foreigners. So a logical question from Mieke, maybe a future girlfriend lives nearby.

And the inhabited world in Thailand is big, google a bit in (sub) districts and more in Thailand if you know names and you come across many places with more than 5000 inhabitants.

Chiang Dai Thailand comes up directly in google maps, no problem. There are not even several Chiang Dao . Just use the right Google Maps !

Thanks Ger, nice response! Indeed, foreigners and English-speaking Thais live in and around CD, I have already met a few and hope to be able to make new contacts through them. I just think it's a good idea to 'network' a bit beforehand, hence my question here on the TB.
        Greetings, Mike.

      Hi Barry,
I am already a member of chickynet, but thank you for taking the time to respond!
      Greetings,
      Mieke.

    Hello Mike,

I live, together with my husband, just east of Chiang mai. In my experience it is easy to make contact with other farangs, but you have to go out. Try to find out what is organized in your area, language classes, cooking classes, hiking, or maybe mud-house building. Investigate. Mae Rim is fairly close by, where many Dutch people and other farangs live.
You can always contact me. [email protected]

    Greetings Lilian.

Hi Lilian, I would like to take advantage of your invitation to email! And indeed, Maggi lives in CD, who has already built several mudhouses and also gives workshops :- (https://maggimck.wordpress.com/) I am therefore not afraid that I will get bored in CD, but actively working on a new future and social network, that is an important tip. For example, I will indeed look for a yoga and a meditation group. Thank you for your response!
      Greetings, Mike
