Dear readers,

I have been coming to Thailand for quite a few years now and I also met my wife there who has been living in the Netherlands for 5 years now. Although we are well off here, we still think that when I am retired (in 2 years) to emigrate to Thailand. Of course we sometimes look to the future in our minds and also when it comes to practical matters.

Recently we talked about consumer items in Thailand that are “normal” for many people in the Netherlands to have at home. This is how the subject of dishwasher and tumble dryer came up. In all the years that I have been in Thailand I have never seen such devices in shops (not really paying attention). According to my wife, you cannot buy such devices in Thailand because the average Thai has no money for it.

I can imagine that there are also Thai people with money and otherwise they will buy it on the "lat" just look at other stuff they have (cars, motorbikes, etc.) but according to my spouse this is not for sale in the Land of the smile because what do you do with a dryer when the sun is “always” shining. On the other hand, I never see laundry hanging on the balcony in many apartments.

Now my question: does anyone know or has anyone ever seen or heard whether these devices are for sale in Thailand and also where? I think it would be more convenient to buy it there than to take it with you (new or used) from the Netherlands when you emigrate.

Regards,

Chaing Moi

For example, translate 'dishwasher' into Thai via Google Translate, paste it into Google's search engine and a world will open up for you.

Both are for sale in Thailand. In my opinion, taking them with you from the Netherlands is only an option if you have the option of importing them tax-free through your wife (as a returnee she may import tax-free household goods under certain circumstances).

Household goods can always be taken along. Even complete containers. Just not duty free.
It is true that certain things in Thailand are much more expensive. My bread maker, for example, was 3 times as expensive as in the Netherlands. I just took it with me in my hand luggage last year.

    Everywhere in Bkk at least.
    HomePro, Powerbuy, Big BigC etc.
    Often also great offers.
    Our dishwasher, Electrolux for 12.500

  4. January says up

    Everything is available at Home-Pro…

  5. Peter says up

We regularly stay in Bangkok and prefer to choose apartments.
They are almost always equipped with a dishwasher and usually also with a combined washing machine/tumble dryer. So they will just be for sale.

My partner's mother has a washing machine. She lives in Bueng Na Rang, a small village somewhere near Phichit. Both her sisters also have a washing machine. One lives in Lop Buri and the other near Suphan Buri. I didn't pay them.

You can buy dishwashers and dryers in every better electrical store, including Home Pro and similar stores.

Well, three months ago I bought a dishwasher via the internet at home pro, a Siemens for 16000 baht, works fine and at least 2 times a day, only finding the soap in Isaan is a bit more difficult, but I order it via lazada

    MVG

  9. Adrie says up

Simply for sale in Thailand Siemens, Electrolux, Indesit, Beko and Asian brands, prices slightly more expensive than in the Netherlands. For sale at Power Buy, Home Pro, Big C and the large department stores. Pay attention to the soap to be used with a washing machine (this must be suitable for a European washing machine (reduced foam). The most commonly used washing machines in the Thai are the old-fashioned top-loaders with blade. The detergent and fabric softener can be obtained everywhere, but be careful Dryers and dishwashers are also for sale (especially in the big cities) have even seen heat pump dryers.

  10. Cees says up

Of course there are dryers and dishwashers in Thailand. Bought a dishwasher from a specialized company in Khon Kaen. Wife didn't think the dryer was necessary, just dry it in the garden. She found the centrifuge useful.
If you bring your laundry to be done, such a company often has a dryer. Otherwise it will never be ready on time.

You can simply buy dishwashers here, from the better kitchen specialists. In pattaya eg at Haefele on Sukhumvit Road. If your wife still doesn't believe that, she can come and see our dishwasher. Nice for us, because I've never heard a Thai woman say she was wrong. :-)

  12. Jacobus says up

Some kitchen appliances are simply not for sale in Thailand. For example, a hand blender or a deep fryer. A bread maker. A good sandwich maker. Forget it. I have visited dozens of stores, including specialty stores and wholesalers such as the Makro. At one point I thought I saw fryers, but they all turned out to be rice cookers.
    Just bring it from Europe.

    • Adrie says up

can just buy deep fryers in Bangkok, even the Fritel from Belgium seen in Central World

    • nicole says up

Never looked closely? Deep fryer bought at makro, hand blender at makro, sandwich maker makro, robinson, home pro. bread maker at the mall. (more expensive) juicer, etc. I think you can just find everything in Thailand.

    • January says up

You will find everything at Lazada… Have already bought quite a few, good prices and free home delivery. Eg. I purchased a fryer from the Belgian brand Fritel through Lazada
      .

    • Jack S says up

Bread maker? Fryer? I have seen them in Hua Hin in Blúport. I myself ordered my bread maker through Lazada. Great device for less than 4000 baht. Even has wi-fi, so you can program it via an app on your mobile.
And as described above, everything else is readily available in Thailand.

    • joke shake says up

Makro in Pattaya on the Suk, 2 sizes of fryers, single and double. The single usually around 1500 baht. Jacobs then you must not have searched well, almost everything is available here.

  13. Jan Hendriks says up

Do not worry. White goods (also from well-known European brands) can be purchased almost everywhere in Thailand. There is a wide range of washing machines and dryers at businesses such as Home Pro, etc., but also at Department Stores. You will also find a wide selection of kitchen appliances there: dishwashers, refrigerators/freezers, ovens and microwaves.
If you are a wine lover you will also find wine cellars here and there for 12 or 48 bottles.

  14. Cees says up

Many people have their laundry done and also dried and ironed. We provide the washing and drying service, they partly have to do the washing themselves, the washing machines have coin insertion. We have an employee who will dry laundry for a fee. There are indeed dryers and dishwashers for sale here.

  15. Renevan says up

Simply for sale in Thailand, just take a look at the online shop of, for example, Homepro, Powerbuy or Lazada.

  16. Van lancker staff says up

Are for sale everywhere at home pro, power buy, winner at least in huahin

  17. Paul says up

I recognize the subject. In my new house I also wanted a dishwasher, if only that you never have dishes (clean or dirty) in the kitchen. Forget it, not found in Thailand. So I went to the internet and yes, found it, but………. “may not ship to Thailand”. What can be sent is a small table model, but I'm not going for that. A substructure or separate large device. So buy in NL and ship with the rest of the stuff. I had more than a great experience with Windmill Forwarding from The Hague/Scheveningen! Good, affordable and only one wine glass broken.

    Hi Chain Moi,

    Dishwashers for sale here.
The Thai don't buy these but the farang do.
Take dozens of packs of dishwasher tablets with you in your container, because they cost gold here.
Initially we had sold our Miele dryer in the Netherlands (which was later cancelled) and therefore bought a washing machine including a dryer here. 66.000 baht.
I wanted to have in my pantry 1` machine, washer and dryer.
I have used this 1 time.
Firstly, the drying program took almost 2.5 hours and secondly, hang it outside for a while and it is dry.
And you save (at the time) 50.000 bht.
Everything related to white goods is for sale here.

    Success.

    Dear Chaing Moi,
    Look online at Ikea Bangkok.

  21. petra says up

Bought dishwasher 6 years ago in Thailand, in Khon Kaen.
A Smeg with a 10-year warranty from a service center in BKK.
    Bought at home pro.
Have already had to come by for minor repairs.
Only cost me a glass of water (warranty)
It works perfectly, purchase price was slightly more than in the Netherlands, dishwasher detergent is also pricey.
So I take the dishwasher cubes with me from the Netherlands.

    Success.

  22. John says up

I don't know where your wife has been looking, but of course there are, fortunately, lots of white goods for sale here.
Home Pro, Tesco and of course Global House and Makro are shops with a wide choice of washing machines and of course dryers.
And then I also live in an area where it is not very touristy.
You can also consider taking it to one of the many laundry shops where it will be washed and ironed for you.
    Success.

  23. William Doeser says up

Can be bought everywhere in Thailand

  24. Henk says up

Good afternoon Chaing Moi, Yes, you don't have to worry about these things because they are widely available in Thailand and also well-known brands such as Electrolux, Siemens and LG.
For sale at Boonthavorn and Homepro and probably many other shops .
Just look on Google and you will find them immediately including the price.
Of course buying here is easier and also with the warranty no problems, although it often goes through the producer of the items in question, but that makes little difference. Good luck with the purchase by then and have a nice time in beautiful Thailand. (Where are you going building your new nest ??)

Easily available here in Chiang Mai so I assume it is available in most major cities, European washing machines are quickly established here, dishwashers are also no problem

  28. Naka says up

All western items from American refrigerators, Nespresso coffee machines, electric toothbrushes, kitchen machines, etc. are for sale in Thailand
Department stores such as Central, Robinsons, Paragon, Emporium.
The large super/hypermarket chains, e.g. Big C, Lotus and the stores with building materials, e.g. Home Pro sell this and sell all white goods. Good luck

  29. Rob says up

Everything is for sale here dishwashers dryers etc.
    Just not much choice.
The prices are quite high I think because of little competition.
    I hope this gets posted.

I used to have a dryer that I sold again because my Thai spouse didn't want to use it. Ditto a combo gas and electric stove. Now I have a microwave that she doesn't want to use either. Why not? High power consumption and then a high electricity bill. That is the reason Thais do not buy these devices. Are for sale all over Thailand.
