Dear readers,

Soon we will emigrate to the Netherlands. My wife would like to buy an affordable (125/175 euros) smartphone here, preferably with a double SIM, that supports both Dutch and Thai language and also works in the Netherlands (preferably via T-mobile).

In the Netherlands there seem to be no devices for sale that support the Thai language, but of course I could be wrong….

Perhaps a lot to ask, but here in Thailand I can no longer see the wood for the trees…..
Any help is welcome!

Regards,

Jasper

    Dear,
I bought a samsung in Pattaya in a samsung shop. There the smartphone was converted for free so that you can also use it in Belgium or the Netherlands. And for my wife (Thai) in Belgium I also bought a Samsung and it is also written in Thai language on one has to go to settings for a moment and change it to Thai.

Hi Jasper, one of the better smartphone devices are the OPO smartphones, many different languages, very fast, easy to use and for sale everywhere, have one and works great in Europe, as well as here in Dutch.

      Dear Jan,

The OPPO looks great, but there are 30 different ones…. Can you tell me which one you have, and whether it also works 4G in the Netherlands?

Bought a Samsung S8 years ago.
very easy to set to Thai and back via settings.
Think every Samsung has that these days.

Huawei is currently even catching up with the I-phone in terms of technology and is a lot cheaper… we have had 3 Huawei devices for 2 years to our complete satisfaction… both in Thailand and in Belgium….

A few months ago I bought a Huawei Y3 2018 in an AIS shop. I thought I paid about 2800 baht for it. Great device.

Last summer I bought a new iPhone and iPad for my wife in the Netherlands, can simply be set to Thai. There will also be cheaper devices that can do that.

Years ago I bought a cheap smartphone here from the maligned I-mobile brand that is “locally made”. The salesman asked me where I was from. Without asking him, he set this phone to Dutch, but I could choose from at least 50 languages! I still enjoy it, even in the Netherlands. So that can not only be set for the expensive brands.

One of the best budget smartphones of 2018 is the Moterola g6. I bought it from Lazada for 5600 Baht and it has two nano sim card slots and it is a 3gb/32gb phone. I have an AIS sim card and a Dutch Simyo sim card. I use two languages, English and Thai, but the Dutch language is also available. An important advantage is that it is a reasonable standard Android 8 phone and therefore lacks those annoying user interfaces of Samsung, Huawei, for example. Just look at the reviews on Youtube of this Moto g6!

Just buy a device with a recent version of Android, in the desired price range. Then you can easily switch between Thai, Dutch or any language you wish.

You are quite clear in your wishes, in terms of price and settings. I don't know what else you want to do with your device, but make sure that the working memory is larger than 2 GB, the internal storage should also be at least 16 GB or larger. Take a look at the Wiko brand, for example, but also Oppo, Xiaomi. Although Samsung offers phones in that price range, my experience is that you soon have to deal with limitations, such as too little memory.
Samsung has excellent devices, but then you are always around 10 to 20.000 baht. And then you don't even have a top model.
Wiko, on the other hand, has sufficient memory on board. I myself had paid 3 baht for mine 4000 years ago.
    Success…

    Good day,

I don't know where you live….but both my wife and I bought a Samsung with dual SIM (between 6000 and 8000 baht) at Tuc Com in Pattaya, depending on the model.
My wife has the J7 and I have the J7 pro.
All wishes you have are honored in the store, such as language.
This way we never lose our two SIM cards Thai and Dutch .... works perfectly

    Greetings, Joe

With the “Local & Language” app you can install all the languages you want.
Was put on my Samsung by the seller when I bought it in Thailand.
With this app, Dutch was added to the initial (Oriental) languages

Take a look at Lazada, plenty of choice. Good smartphones for little money. Buy at least a 5 inch screen. Read the specifications carefully and see that there is at least 1 year warranty. For example, I have a Wiko and my wife has a Haixu, both cost less than 2000 baht and work fine, Dutch language is also on Thai, of course. Also check the battery capacity.

This year I switched from a Nokia mobile phone to a Samsung A5 smartphone.
    Both were purchased in NL

I always put my Thai SIM card in that Nokia when I arrived in Bangkok.

My question > would this also work with that Samsung A5??

All purchased in the Netherlands and or Germany.

Just set the language. No problem with any of the devices.
