Reader question: Which airline to Thailand allows you to take the most kg of luggage with you?
Dear readers,
I'm going to order a ticket to Bangkok soon. Because 20 kg is not enough for me, I'm looking for a company where you can take more luggage. My suitcase will go fast towards the 30 kg. Must bring lots of stuff for family and friends this time.
Have already looked at the websites of airlines, but it is very difficult to find where the information about luggage is and how much is free. I don't feel like buying a cheap ticket first and then having to pay extra for excess baggage.
Do any of the readers know which airline I should be with where you can definitely take more than 20 kg?
Thanks for your tips.
Regards,
Guido
emirates,
Malaysia airway
singapore airways
Just look at e.g. search on Skyscanner for a ticket and then you can see this in the details.
Each airline indicates what you can take with you in terms of luggage.
Look at emirates and ethiad. I believe you are allowed to take 30kg + 7kg hand luggage with you both. Tip for ethiad, check the prices when departing from Amsterdam and returning to Dusseldorf. That can save hundreds of euros.
Qatar Airways: 30 Kg
I'm flying soon with Etihad: 30 kg hold luggage and 7 kg hand luggage. Usually you can also take a laptop separately.

Klm = 23 kilos and 12 kilos of hand luggage, eva = 20 and 7 kilos of hand luggage but……..this for both in economy
And 2 suitcases for about 80 € with pre-order online per one way at KLM
At Etihad (via Abu Dhabi) you are allowed to take 30 kg as standard. They fly from Brussels, Amsterdam and Düsseldorf. Promotions sometimes from as little as 475 Euro return.
Emirates airways e.g. suitcase 30Kg, up to 30.5Kg is also OK
7Kg hand luggage, up to 8Kg is also OK
Fly your Business you can take 40Kg in your suitcase, up to 41,5Kg also OK
The overweight is your own experience depending on how sympathetic you are
happens to the -ground crew- at the scale = check-in counter
We flew with Emirates, 30 kilos and another 10 kilos of hand luggage, great company,
Success.
From Brussels with Thai airways 30 kg
Hi Guido,
Egyptair 40 kg +10 kg hand luggage. We flew here one year ago. Plane was not fully booked despite the very good service! So much space during the long journey!
Due to the political turmoil in Egypt, we now fly with Qatar Airways in June and are allowed to take 30kg + 10kg hand luggage. It's also a convenient stopover! After 6,5 hours of flying, stretch your legs for an hour and a half and then another 6 hours to Bangkok.
Good trip!
Jan
If you fly often, become a frequent flyer of a club or group. Quickly saves 5 kg or more. And if the place is completely full, a move to business might also be part of it….
If you still have to fly in Thailand, often only 20 kg. We have signed up for the flyer bonus program of Bangkok Airways. com. Then you also have 30 kg on routes in Thailand. You can print out the temporary card yourself.
at china airlines you can bring 30 kg pp gr hans
Hans has a different story on the website. If you fly via their home base to Australia, for example, 30 kg. However, the Bangkok route is only 20 kg + hand luggage. The business class is 30 kg+ hand luggage to Bangkok. source: chinaairlines.nl
No 20 have just been that is for business class.
At thai airways..only 20 kg and 7 kg hand luggage..with egypt air..2 times 20 kg and 7 kg hand luggage..
We fly 2 times a year with Egypt air 2x 23 kg per person, plus hand luggage.
Very satisfied !
Business class, 2 x 32 kg, but you can also get away with 34 kg, then for platinum (klm) another 32 kg. Two pieces of hand luggage that you can easily load up to 15 kg each, what is the problem? If I want 23 kg more, that is 80 euros extra at KLM. A bigger problem is getting it all in a taxi
We don't fly platinum, we just fly economy. Most bloggers here pay for their plane tickets themselves and not the company they work and fly for. Therein lies the problem with the Kg. Plain nonsense to say that if you have a special status or business then everything is no problem.
Jet Airways from Brussels via Mumbai: 30 kilos + 7 kilos
Moderator: please don't chat
Eva-air and China-air 30 kg and departing from Schiphol where the prices are sometimes lower than with us
Not 30 kilos but 20 30 for business class is the same for Eva air.
I have been with airliner
Bought a bonus card €119 valid for one year
And you can then take 2x 32 kilos with you and then the hand luggage
So that's a whole mountain
Greetings Rob
we took 75 kg of luggage with us on our return journey with KLM, booked and paid for the trip in advance.
Correct what Guido states above: Egyptair 40 kg +10 kg hand luggage.
Dear readers, Guido says he is going to order a plane ticket to Bangkok, but is he also going to continue flying in Thailand himself? , because that weight, I even read somewhere 30 kg + you can never, for free, take on a domestic flight.
Something to take into account, if you fly from Bangkok at least.
Yours faithfully,
Lex k
In recent years I have been flying with Egypt Air, the reason why you are allowed to carry 2×23 kg plus 7 kg by hand, when you register for Dynasti it is 3×23 + 7 kg by hand, which we have been flying with for 4 years now.
Best regards, MJ
Egypt air, 2 x 23 kg plus hand luggage. If you go to Chiang Mai, for example, you must book the ticket AMS-CNX in one go and do not fly to BKK first and then take a ticket to Chiang Mai, otherwise you will have problems with the luggage on the last part.
Dear Lex,
No one here is talking about Domestic flights, It's about international flights departing. There are some companies where you can participate up to 30 kg. But that is precisely the problem with those domestic flights, there it is not allowed and you have to pay extra per kg throughout Thailand, by the way !!
Dear John and all other commenters,
What I indicate is that you are allowed to carry a certain number of kilos on international flights, the only thing I warn about is that if you also want to make a domestic flight after it, you also have to take into account the maximum permitted weight of that company, otherwise you will be faced with very unpleasant surprises, it is indeed a point to take into account, there you are allowed on an international flight with your 30 kg, while for example you are only allowed to take 20 kg on a domestic flight, it's a well-intentioned warning, nothing more.
Yours faithfully,
Lex K.
Dear John, very correct, what you have written there. Several commenters are bombarding you with kilos of luggage here, but forget to mention that the 20 or 30 kilos or more only apply UNTIL Bangkok. For a further domestic flight, you pay from 20+ kg per kilo of "overweight" and that can cost quite a bit of money. Nok-air and Air-Asia know something about it.
Regards, Dre
