Lien Yang is overjoyed to see me. He sits beaming across from me for three quarters of an hour. Still, this is our first meeting. The two rows of bars, the glass and the telephones with which we have our conversation are no obstacle. Lien Hau Yang is 32 years old. He has served 12 years in prison and, if he is not amnestied, will have to serve another 29 years. He'll be 61 when he gets out.
