The editors of Thailandblog can post a daily video of the bizarre road behavior or terrible traffic accidents in Thailand. We won't. Yet this time again an example of the 'wild west' on the Thai highways. This hot-headed Thai driver will not soon forget his action.

The man wanted to get some redress after a minibus cut him off. The video was already made in 2011 by a dashcam but is now circulating on social media.

In the video, the driver of a black sedan is furious after a white minivan cuts him off on Thailand's highway and then seeks revenge. That doesn't seem like a really good idea.

I am a retired expat here and do about 100 km every day. This is everyday fare here. If I had to worry every time I was cut off, I would have a heart attack within 2 months. I've been driving around here for over 2 years now and have become used to it. Just keep calm is the message.

those guys with their minibuses think they can do anything
yesterday a minibus wanted to cut me off by suddenly changing lanes
when I sounded the horn he held back, but he did honk when I passed him
on the video I do not immediately see that the driver of the minibus uses his indicator

The person who caused the damage could already see that the minibus swerved to the right, even if it had not indicated a direction. The fact that he still tries to pass here on the right is beyond stupidity. When this failed, he made the second mistake and tried to overtake in an extremely aggressive way, only to cut the minibus in the right lane. Even if the minibus hadn't indicated a direction, it could have prevented this accident, instead of trying to play its own judge, which in my view has been punished.

That cutting of that minibus is even unnecessary.

If you see the end of the video, no one is driving in front of the minibus when that black sedan throws it in front of it and it also has plenty of space between the minibus and the vehicle in the middle lane.

He just throws it too close for it, loses control and hits the median.

I don't think the van is doing anything wrong. He is already working on that maneuver when the sedan comes along.

So I would say it is good, as far as I have seen no innocents have been victimized. What I still doubt is whether it was really a good warning to the person in question. These artists who fly from left to right across the road without giving direction are so convinced of their own abilities, and even stupid enough to make someone else responsible. But again there will be plenty of people who will give advice again, how to adapt this driving behavior. Defensive and looking ahead is certainly a good option, but most of it is based on good luck.

Some time ago I renewed my Thai driving license for the second time. A refresher video had to be watched for this. I was under the impression that some traffic signs and traffic situations would be shown. However, it was a tear-jerking soap opera that briefly came down to the fact that Thais should do something about their short fuse, especially in traffic. Since the majority of the Thais were sleeping, the video will not have had much effect.

This kind of cocky behavior of Thai in road traffic is of a daily and unfortunately also everyday order. Make sure you keep your distance, don't be tempted to participate, and don't be provoked, plus of course don't provoke this kind of aggressiveness yourself. It is that the driver of the black sedan can't get any further, but otherwise that of the minivan is badly screwed. It therefore wisely moves on.

    Do like me.
Buy two sport dashcams (sports cameras) if you ride a motorbike.
You mount one on the right side of your motorcycle helmet , the other you mount on the right side of the back of your motorcycle .
And when you get home , just download it on your PC , and I can assure you that you have fantastic images of how things are on the roads here in Thailand .
That happened to me this week, riding my bike on a provincial two-lane road with the flow of traffic, at a speed of around 80 kmph.
In my mirrors I saw an Isuzu Dmax complete with kangaroo trap on the front approaching quickly .
Drove behind me for quite some time, with a distance of I thought he wanted to ride on the back of me on the saddle.
Went to catch up shorter you can really not imagine.
Later in the evening, thanks to the second camera, I was able to watch the movie again.
Perhaps an idea , if members of this web blog could post their own images .

    Jan Beute.

The minibus (which probably, like its peers, must have been driving far too slowly), had to go to the far right behind another car, which was already driving there itself to pass a car in the center lane. The video montage starts too late to determine whether the two cars driving on the far right had signaled their correct evasive maneuver [in time]. However, the famous dark sedan approached at a noticeably higher speed than even the minivan, and in this fairly busy traffic this only seems possible by continuously slaloming across all three lanes all the time. We have known for a long time that slaloming too fast can cause a skier to take a flag... but winter sports will certainly not be popular here. And central reservations simply don't wave when someone hits them hard. 🙂

It's not just driving wild west, but if they don't get it right, even if they're 200% wrong, you still have to watch out. There are kamikaze drivers, both car and moped who drive around with revolvers (loaded)
I myself have been driving an Isuzu Highlander in Thailand for 7.5 years now, so that you have more of a tank under your ass.
