Thailand: Playing in the snow

Wonderful those tropical temperatures and the white beaches with an azure blue sea in Thailand. At least that's what most tourists think. Thais themselves sometimes want to wear a hat and gloves, ride a sled or make a snowman.

And that is now possible on the fifth floor of the Gateway Ekamai mall in Bangkok, there is 'Snow Town', a winter park that was opened last year. Perfect for escaping the heat of summer.

The floor was converted into a real snow village, including swirling snowflakes. Children can make their first snowman, go sledding or even have a snowball fight.

According to Snow Town itself, it is the first snow theme park in Southeast Asia, but in the meantime there is also the snow park Harbin Ice Wonderland.

Location: Gateway Ekamai, 982/22 Sukhumvit Rd., 095-547-6870. BTS: Ekkamai

  1. Martin Chiangrai says up

Snowtown reminds me of Snowworld in Landgraaf, Limburg. Made the first descents here, first on the artificial track (plastic brushes) and later on the snow slope (500 m.) in the indoor hall.

Here in Chiangrai you have ideal slopes to build an indoor ski slope of up to 2000 meters, including an ice skating hall. Everything can be 100% solar powered! I already have the idea and the location, I just lack the investment capacity, I estimate 30 - 40 billion baths, but for that money you get something beautiful and special! (4x Snowworld)
