Sunai Julphongsathorn: “If you want to learn a foreign language, sleep with a foreigner.”

Sunai Julphongsathorn, a prominent member of the Pheu Thai Party and chairman of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee, has been at the center of controversy over his alleged advice that poor Thai women should marry a farang.

'Sleep with a foreigner'

He also made a remarkable statement: “If you want to learn a foreign language, go to bed with a foreigner.”

Sunai addressed women at a gathering of approximately 1.000 Red Shirts. A video recording was made and posted on Youtube.

In it he explains that poor Thai women from Isan and the Northeast of Thailand would do well to marry a foreigner, as they would then be able to benefit from social benefits in the man's country of origin. Women's lives would improve dramatically because, according to him, "European governments are giving everything away for free".

“Take a German, Swedish or Norwegian man. The government pays you to study and if you have a baby you can go to the hospital without paying. Even the diapers are free”.

Criticism

After his statements, a storm of criticism erupted. Especially on various internet forums, a fierce discussion has arisen about his controversial statements. “Inappropriate for a politician of the Pheu Thai party with a female prime minister,” write critics.

Sunai hastened to apologize for his comments. He told the media that it was never his intention to insult Thai women. He just wanted to help women and show that the opportunities for uneducated women in Thailand are significantly less than in European countries. He also hopes that his speech will contribute to better social services in Thailand, making things such as education and health care accessible to everyone.

Perhaps a lot of fuss and commotion about these statements, but this man cannot be blamed for being a hypocrite and lying. He simply says what many think and try to do, namely hooking up a farang for a better life, and in fact he also admits that his party cannot take care of the poor women and must look elsewhere.

What kind of ………..! Can't believe it and don't know that what he claims, that the girl must first integrate (ha ha costs money too) well that just takes a while,
yes the sun is free but he doesn't know that either.

Excellent statements by 'provo' Sunai. It is true that you can learn a foreign language very well in bed. For example, a friend of mine mainly learned his Swedish between the sheets. Furthermore, Sunai denounces the position of the poor, the poor social services, education and health care in a provocative way. This is how it should be done. Politically correct or socially desirable language use simply does not appeal enough to change something in society. Our Dolle Mina's were well aware of that at the time. They were also often denounced at first, but ultimately decisively initiated women's emancipation.

That also gives a whole new meaning to the concept of 'dicks in bed' 😉

Yes you can say yes, what is the conversation about? (ha ha it always hangs together like loose sand!)

Ha, ha Mr. Sunai propagates pragmatic opportunism. That is a short summary of the philosophy of life of many Thais. It just sounds a bit nasty when you put it like that. It's rather un-Asian to call the animal by its name and give such advice. Maybe he had a few sips of Sang Som too much.

Finally a Thai politician who gives advice from his own observation. Just ask a divorced Thai woman about her experiences with a Thai man.
It is logical that a Thai woman, especially with children, seeks happiness with a farang and therefore not always for money. Anyway, the Thai Bath is and will of course always be number one.
The whole society is imbued with it. So you can sometimes not blame that Thai woman for her choice of partner. As long as give and take are in balance, it will work. So actually tribute to that politician, who stuck his neck out. Doesn't happen much in Thailand,
