After Venice and Barcelona, Asians consider Amsterdam the most romantic city in Europe. This is evident from a poll conducted by hotel site Agoda among more than 50.000 customers.
Now that Valentine's Day is approaching (Valentine's Day is a day when lovers give each other extra attention with gifts, flowers, or cards. Valentine's Day is celebrated on February 14), trips are also being booked to romantic destinations. Paris and Rome have the name, but Agoda researched where travelers really go in search of romance and passion.
A poll found that there are big differences between the preferences of Asian lovers and the destinations preferred by European lovebirds. Asian couples on holiday in Europe prefer Venice and Amsterdam, while European couples prefer Barcelona and Budapest.
Thailand
When European lovers travel to Asia, Thailand proves to be popular. Bangkok and Chiang Mai then score high on the wish list. Chiang Mai is the second most romantic destination for Asian couples.

But I can believe the numbers based on polls of financially well off people from Hong Kong and Singapore and some well off Chinese and South Koreans but those Thais in that poll Please explain?
After so many years of arriving at the airport in Bangkok, I always have to notice that at immigration the counters for Thais are always almost empty, so because the majority of Thais still have money, they can still get a visa to travel abroad.
So where does agoda get those figures from Thais?
Well I can nuance that a bit. I live in the center of Amsterdam and see Thai tourists there regularly. I have a nice memory of a couple who, after having mustered all the courage, approached me last year to ask for directions to the Rijksmuseum in recognizable English. I would have liked pictures of their faces when I was guiding them around in Thai.
It is strange that Amsterdam is number three in the first list and Rome does not appear. I am a chauvinist, but Amsterdam is not that beautiful.
