This week in the company profiles series we introduce Royal FrieslandCampina. The company has been active in Thailand for more than 50 years and is best known under the name Foremost.

Royal FrieslandCampina (RFC) is a dairy cooperative with approximately 20.000 members in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. The company was founded in 2008 after a merger of Friesland Foods and Campina. Both companies had been around since the late 19th century. The company was given the title 'Royal' to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Friesland Foods, one of the pillars of the cooperative.

In Thailand, RFC is best known as Foremost. It is one of the best known brands of dairy products in Thailand and RFC has been supplying its high quality products to the Thai people for over 50 years.

As a cooperative, RFC's mission is to improve the lives of dairy farmers across Asia. To this end, RFC created the Dairy Development Program, which offers Asian farmers a learning program to improve the quality and quantity of the milk they supply.

Postscript Gringo: on the Facebook page there is another video about this Dairy Development Program, which unfortunately could not be copied. Instead, here's a nice introductory video from Royal Friesland Campina:

Friesland Campina recently entered into a joint venture with a Chinese company and is entering the Chinese baby food market. Bull's eye after all the problems with such products in that immense country.

    Dear Khan Peter.
    Am happy with this item.
I would like to have a contact address of Foremost.
The reason for this is that they sell yoghurt in 5 liter jerry cans.
But this one contained a lot of sugar so I shouldn't eat it.
Like so many expats, we are often over 60 years old and often have at least old age sugar.
I would like to ask them if there is anything that can be done about this sugar level.
And furthermore, they have had new stickers on their products for a number of weeks that no longer contain English text. Now I only recognize by the blue cap that it is semi-skimmed milk.
I have heard several farang complain about this.
Furthermore, as expats, we want to start a promotion to manufacturers that products with an English description will also be given priority in purchasing.
Too bad because I think “Foremost” is the best!
    Sincerely,
    John den Hertog.

Dear Janudon, why don't you make your own yoghurt. Buy 2 ltr Meiji milk 0% fat buy 2 yogurt without sugar and 0% fat. Remove the amount of milk from the jug that the yoghurt can reach, add your yoghurt and shake well. And feel free to leave it in the sun all day. Then in the fridge. I didn't believe it either but have been eating it for years.
      Enjoy your meal.

Serge, we are talking about Foremost, a Dutch company, so don't use Meiji milk, but use Foremost milk, 555!

          Meiji milk tastes better.
For yogurt, I prefer Dutch Mill.
          Foremost's is too sweet.

Serge, thanks for the tip, I'll definitely try it.
But you say 2 yoghurts without sugar and 0% fat, which do you mean?
Here's another tip from a friend of mine!
If yogurt has been in the fridge for a week and you suspect it might turn sour, add 20% fresh milk. This is eaten by the living bacteria, and the acidification is delayed for several days.

    Gringo 555 of course :-))
Also Gringo, Henry and Theo, thanks for the addresses.

I only miss a response to my comments on manufacturers who do not put English text on their packaging
Especially considering the Asian community that will start at the end of this year, copied from the European community. You give a student 200 Baht and you can put this text on a 1.000.000 packets.
Statement: Should actually be mandatory here after 1-1-2559 (2016).
The Thai alphabet does not excel in simplicity.

    Greetings Jan
