Thailand's port authorities are proposing six new routes to connect islands and ports in the Andaman Sea. These are routes between Phuket, Pangnga and Krabi. A modern fleet with new ships, which can also carry cars, should shorten travel times and promote tourism in the region.

A meeting recently took place between the government, the private sector and ferry companies that can participate. Entries must be submitted before June 15 and allocations will take place on August 31.

The main sailing route connects Krabi to Phuket and goes from Krabi, Pak Klong Jilat to Nam Leuk in Phuket. The ferry can carry 300 passengers and the crossing takes about an hour.

The other itineraries:

  • Ferry (cars and passengers) Ao Por, Phuket to Chong Lat, Pangnga to Tha Len, Krabi.
  • Ferry (cars and passengers) Chong Lat, Koh Yaw Yai, Ma Noh, Koh Yaw Noi, Pangnga.
  • Ferries (cars and passengers) Ban Hua Hin, Koh Klang Lanta, Ban Klong Mak (Lanta Noi) Krabi.
  • Ferry (cars and passengers) Ao Thong Lang Koh Lanta, Koh Hang, Koh Poo, Pangnga.
  • Ferry (cars and passengers) port at Amphoe Kao, Koh Lanta Yai to Koh Por Krabi.
