At least 27 people died in a bus accident in the Wang Nua district of Lampang on Monday evening, various media reported.

According to the police, the accident was caused by malfunctioning brakes. The bus was on a descent and was part of a convoy of four buses transporting visitors after visiting temples in the district.

The bus hit a concrete structure head-on and then plunged into a ravine 150 meters deep.

Rescue teams have great difficulty recovering the dead and injured due to the darkness and the inaccessible area.

    Is this message correct?
    On October 24, 2013, exactly the same accident took place in Wang Nua…

    Malfunctioning brakes on a descent………

    Every driver should know, use your brakes as little as possible on descents.
    Shift down and brake on the engine, possibly briefly when braking.
    If your brakes get too hot, they won't work.
    I don't understand it very well, always the same. Also in Europe.
    It is so easy to say: “brakes don't work”.

    As a driver, you should have a little knowledge of a car.

    Those bus accidents are usually due to occasionally hired drivers who are little or not familiar with the route to be followed, on top of that, poor maintenance of those buses and inexperienced drivers. For example, my ex-wife experienced such an accident because his brakes no longer worked on a descent. the driver had the choice: try to come to a stop against the rock wall or drive the other way into a ravine. Fortunately he chose the first, but still 3 were killed. My ex-wife was only slightly injured and helped care for those in worse condition. She had taken a cheap bus ride with her boyfriend and it is precisely those that are the most dangerous.

    Good driver training;
    Build a speed limit into buses;
    An engine brake in buses;
    Better maintenance of buses;

    Undoubtedly there are more things to mention.
    But, and that's the problem, they're all going to cost money.
    And therein lies the rub, profit comes before everything.
