The Bangkok Municipal Water Board (MWA) is proposing a price for households and businesses that conserve water.

Those who are able to save at least 10 percent or more than 5 cubic meters of water have a chance to win a prize. Five households and five companies that save the most will receive a bonus. Unfortunately, the message does not mention the price.

The average water consumption in Bangkok is 200 liters of water per person per day (including industry and companies). Last year, the water company supplied 1.377 million cubic meters of water to 2,17 million users in Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan.

Meanwhile, the government is making plans in the field of water management. 30 billion baht has been allocated, of which 10 million baht per province is available for farmers who are at risk of going bankrupt due to the drought. New canals are also being dug, more water reservoirs are being built and existing reservoirs are being enlarged. According to the government, 6.000 reservoirs are already being built.

The Minister of Agriculture says that many farmers are listening to the government and are stopping pumping water from canals and rivers to irrigate their fields. As a result, the water level in some reservoirs would have already risen.

If the exaggerated Songkran madness were to be limited by a few days , I think that would already be a very large water saving . Especially in Pattaya it literally runs out of steam during that period .

10 million baht per province to save farmers from bankruptcy.
Not many farmers will be saved with that, I'm afraid.
Even if they only get 1.000 baht per person, you won't get more than 10.000 people per province.
