On February 5, a boat with 133 Rohingya refugees departed from Rakhine in Myanmar and on February 26, the vessel arrived in Aceh with 121 people on board. The UN refugee agency UNHCR has asked the Thai government about the truth of reports that the Thai navy is responsible for the deaths of at least two Rohingya.

It is certain that two bodies were found off the coast of Phangnga and were buried in a Muslim cemetery after an autopsy in the Kuraburi Chaipat hospital. It is also certain that villagers of Ban Hin Lat rescued five Rohingya from the sea between Koh Phrathong and the mainland.

They say they jumped into the water when the navy transferred a number of refugees in a smaller boat on the high seas. In doing so, the Navy allegedly shot at the swimmers, killing two. According to Human Rights Watch, the five are already on their way to Malaysia. A villager says fishermen saw about XNUMX bodies floating in the water.

Bangkok Post reconstructed the events and listed them neatly in the accompanying overview. The navy (of course) denies that the refugees were shot. She does admit to sending the refugees back to sea after providing food, which is government policy.

Surely it is to be hoped that this is not true…?!? Shooting defenseless unarmed refugees? How cowardly can you be? To vomit.
    Speaking of losing face…
