The tourism industry in Phuket welcomes the government's reopening plan to allow vaccinated foreign tourists to visit the resort island without quarantine from July 1.

Phuket will be the first province to waive the quarantine requirement for foreign visitors vaccinated against Covid-19.

Thanusak Phungdet, president of the Phuket Chamber of Commerce, said tourism is Phuket's main source of income. Before Covid-19 hit the country, about 70.000-80.000 foreign tourists arrived in Phuket every day. Currently there are only about 10.000 visitors, mostly Thai.

Still, Thanusak says he doesn't expect an immediate influx of foreign visitors to Phuket next month. “We think that about 100.000 foreign tourists will arrive in Phuket in the next five months. With the reopening to foreign tourists, the income of the islanders can increase by 20-30%, but it will also boost the national tourism industry as the foreign tourists in Phuket will also visit other provinces,” said Thanusak.

Despite the quarantine exemption, tourists' travel activities will be restricted to "set itineraries" in Phuket for another seven days before they are allowed to visit other locations in Thailand. In addition, tourists must install an app for contact tracing during their stay in Thailand.

    That is beautiful?
But if you arrive at svurbinami airport. Can you fly directly to Phuket! Or do you have to be quarantined upon arrival in BKK?
Or you can fly directly to Phuket from Amsterdam.

The requirement is that you fly directly to Phuket from abroad (a foreign country), i.e. not via Bangkok or Chiangmai. The article describes the general rule and is therefore not focused on the Netherlands or Belgium.

I think you can go to Phuket with Qatar airlines via a stopover in Doha.

I always fly with Singaporeair, stopover at Changi and on to Phuket. I can not wait. :-). So not via BKK
